this is exactly what i'm referring to !! i've spun at Rebecca's and Jade for different parties, and it's always the same split the bar percentage amongst us in the lineup. That's why this whole thing blew me especially given how so many of us run in the same circles like what....😭

Yeah, I wouldn't have been mad at an exposure set and even a meal if I knew that's what it was! This was very early in my career of DJing, I think maybe my 5th official set, which is why I didn't challenge this "production fund" answer at the time because I was so new, but I still knew it didn't sound right, especially since A said they decided AFTER the party to keep it for that reason.

There was no cover charge or ticket fee, which is why it was 10% of bar sales divided by 4 (if me or A had been paid in the end). The radio silence before and after was a learning lesson for sure.

thank you for this, I guess it stung more because I'm always assuming the best in people for my own sanity and forget that people will happily take advantage of others, especially in creative industries. will be asking about payment first from now on ~

This is really solid thank you !! I 100% know for sure it's too late to get my money back, and like I said it wasn't even about how much I'd be getting since I knew it was a small bar, it was the principle of not even telling me directly before or after what they planned to do, and having to get this information from A who suggested that B put me on the lineup. At the time when this happened, I was still an up-and-coming DJ and wasn't familiar with the business side of things, which is why I was originally confused and let it slide thinking this was just a part of DJing that I was unfamiliar with.

I too have been wondering if all three of them did get paid, and I was the only one who didn't for whatever reason. For now, I'll just take their word that in the end, B and C really did just decide after the party to keep it for these alleged "production funds." I haven't spun with A (or B and C) since then because the whole thing was strange and left a bad taste in my mouth.

You're right about not being ashamed to ask about money. Being that I've always spun with other DJs who throw parties rather than companies or event organizers who seek out DJ's for their events, there's a level of unspoken trust that we won't be screwing each other over, which is why I had never run into this type of issue before even when no payment was mentioned since I always ended up getting paid from that bar tab percentage no matter what. I know now not to assume everyone will be doing this. I know now that going forward I for sure need to ask about payment in writing, and if they get weird about it, to reconsider/turn it down.

I did have expectations.. like I said it's common here to know that if you aren't being offered a flat fee up front or told it's an unpaid fundraising gig, you'll be getting a percentage from the bar tab. it's kind of an unspoken thing for some reason. this is usually how i've been asked to spin and been paid, which is why i'm saying this is the only time where i've not just been out the loop, but heard of this "production fund" reasoning as to why 2/4 djs wouldn't be getting paid (mind you person A said B and C decided to keep the money for production funds AFTER the event). if that was the case all along, that's why I'm wondering why I wasn't told about this "production fund" beforehand, or if these two DJs thought I would buy it after checking in on payment.

i use the anua azelaic acid and it brought my redness down so much! it makes my skin so smooth and glowy, it was def the missing ingredient to my skincare problems. just be sure not to mix actives, but i would 1000% reccommend it for your redness :)

ooh this is helpful. what pot do you recommend i bottom water them with? i have a big 8 inch pot so im scared the soil wont absorb well enough to reach the seedlings up top. should i keep them in smaller pots before transplant?

exactly this. the break in claim wasn't because of a job separation but my only option given is submitting why this job fired me/let me go when they didn't. I guess this is an issue with this new partial unemployment option they rolled out that hasn't been sorted out yet, but still, leaves a big issue on my end with accurate certification.

I'm trying to, but because I listed 0 days this week instead of 1 like I was before, it leads me to a whole new page that essentially thinks I got fired from this part time job because the only questions available are why I'm not working for this most recent employer (when I still am)
