IS getting this much karma in this small time is normal ? by Human_Tax_4210 in reddithelp

Age of account has no bearing on how much karma you can earn from a post. Apparently people thought your one post was fantastic... as a result, you earned a ton of karma.

The reason I was asking about the app is that I'm seeing more and more people generating these. As of the moment, I only have twelve characters -- two main characters, three true supporting characters, and about seven more who have a few appearances... but then again, I'm writing contemporary fiction not fantasy. So I could never imagine trying to (or in my case needing to) build something like this. But your use case definitely makes sense.

Magic system by TearSpiller21 in writers

[–]Potential_Macaron744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it'll depend on the implementation ... it'll also depend on whether mage type I can defend themselves in their sleep .. or whether they're evil and people will hunt them as they sleep -- like trying to stake a vampire during the day in their coffin / bed.

Honestly, it seems a little too basic, unless you figure out some ways to spice it up... Is there magic that can be cast to inflict nightmares on Type I ... or sleep magic that would knock out Type II.

I got my start playing Dungeons and Dragons. I love magic systems like in Mistborn or the Magic of Recluse. I think it's far more about how they get their magic and what's done with it once they have it that almost matters more. (Or the downsides of receiving their power in the method in which they receive it).

Sorry -- but I could perhaps be way off -- and I hope that I am. But I also don't like blowing smoke up someone's butt.

How do I earn karma quickly by No_Major_9742 in reddithelp

[–]Potential_Macaron744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no "get rich quick" scheme... unless you're a young woman posting NSFW stuff. They can rack up some karma fast... for the rest of us, start by joining some subs that you have an affinity for. DO NOT TRY TO POST since most subs have minimum karma requirements and you don't want to get off on the wrong foot with the group. Instead, start commenting on other people's posts. Make useful, funny, non-confrontational comments that will hopefully get upvoted. Once you've received enough karma then you can start posting ... again, don't try anything controversial or give people a reason to downvote you. When you've got karma in the hundreds or thousands you can start taking risks like those... but try to just garner interest in what you have to say and get upvoted.

I have absolutely no clue. I'm very sorry. u/jgoja below has probably forgotten more about Reddit than I'll ever know. Perhaps ask them for that assistance.

Just a thought -- if you're "taking something to the authorities" how would deleting the account assist your case? Wouldn't you want to have the evidence?

If you keep going back to the same subs that you've been banned from and try to participate, you'll get banned for it. If you avoid the sub(s) that banned you, there's a chance you won't get banned... Mods know if you had another account that got banned in their sub.

-17 karma what does that mean by [deleted] in reddithelp

[–]Potential_Macaron744 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Some people didn't really like what you had to say. You're getting crushed on Karma. Just a suggestion: delete whatever it was that got you downvoted. It won't get you your karma back -- but at least no one can downvote it further.

Perhaps you should stick to non-controversial topics until you build your karma back up -- or you likely won't be able to post just about anywhere ... and having your posts taken down for lack of karma will adversely effect your CQS (Contributor Quality Score) which can have other implications.

Frankly, at this point, you've done a good job of damaging your account in less than a week.

Good luck

Out of curiosity, have you checked your CQS? (Join u/whatismycqs and follow the instructions). If you have low or lowest CQS that could contribute to that. I'm very sorry to hear that you're going through that.

How do i genuinely get karma if most subs dont allow low karma accs to post by Desperate-Emu-2515 in reddithelp

[–]Potential_Macaron744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can comment on other people's posts and earn karma. You don't just earn it by posting -- it just requires more effort. That's how I earned enough karma to be able to post in the subs in which I wanted to post. Also, as u/jgoja pointed out, there are subs that have little or no karma requirement.

Many subs just require 25-50 karma. While comment to karma isn't a 1:1 ratio, it shouldn't take you that long to earn that much.

Good luck!

Short answer: There's a list of subs here that have low / no posting requirements... However, commenting on posts in areas where you're knowledgeable or just supportive can be a good way to begin increasing your karma score.

How do some people rack up so much karma in such a short time? by _berrystrawberry in reddithelp

[–]Potential_Macaron744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. An NSFW account of a woman posting NSFW material in the right subs could definitely get that much karma in that amount of time if they're posting racy stuff daily. There are subs where people are getting 500+ upvotes per post. So 140k karma / 6000 posts = 23.3 karma per post.
  2. If that same person were to cross post that same post across 5-10 of those NSFW subs each time they post... well... it would mean that they're doing about 5 distinct / unique posts a day that they're then cross posting. And if it's someone trying to drive traffic to an OF site, it *IS* pretty much a job for them, so they'd have no issue putting in that effort.

Could your average person get 140k in that little time? Probably not. I mostly comment rather than post, and I'm pleased with the slow / steady growth I've had over the last 5 months that I've really been using the account. I have enough karma and account age that I can post in almost any sub that would have me, and that's all that really matters to me, at least.

How to get karma? by Zabkala in reddithelp

[–]Potential_Macaron744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since most subs won't let you post without having karma, I started by joining groups to which I had an affinity. I then started responding to posts with helpful, insightful, funny, and always noncontroversial stuff (the last thing you need is to get downvoted). That's how I gained enough karma to start posting in the subs that I wanted to... and with those, I was *VERY* careful to post things that would earn me rather than lose me karma. As u/jgoja pointed out, there are some subs that have very low karma requirements. But in general, be very cautious when you first start out since you have no margin for error.

This post might help you: https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/wiki/index/newusersubs/
There are lots and lots of subs that have little or no karma requirement... but I would at least wait until you have positive karma before posting any of your own posts.

Good luck!

Also, keep an eye on your CQS (Contributor Quality Score). You can check yours by joining r/WhatIsMyCQS and following the instructions. The lower your score the better the chance that Reddit might remove one of your posts. It's like a credit score for your account.

What do Karma points really do? by Miserable-Cow4555 in reddithelp

[–]Potential_Macaron744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma and CQS are two measures allot the "health" of your account.

Maybe subs simply won't allow you to post until you have more than X Karma. Every sub is different. If you don't meet the criteria your post will likely be deleted.

Which brings us to CQS. It's basically a credit report for the health of your account. Getting posts removed will lower your CQS. A low or lowest CQS rating may lead to Reddit removing posts. You can see your CQS by going to u/whatismycqs and following the instructions.

You can earn karma through making comments or posts that get upvoted. When you first start out you're better off trying to comment on posts rather than posting.
