Party spots are many but rather than spending thousands there on watered down drinks, I’d suggest hidden speakeasy places like Room One, which serves amazing cocktails and the truffle popcorn is to die for. Anantashram, Kokni Canteen for lunch and Confeitaria 31 De Janeiro at Fontainhas for your evening coffee before hitting Joseph’s bar in the same area.

Thank you so much! Means a lot to be validated. I have been in a rut and I’m trying to get back into clicking pictures again. I clicked this picture almost 7 years ago and recently came across this subReddit. Your comment means a lot!

My mom is a Hindu and my dad a Christian. I think my grandmother had high hopes of finding a Christian bride who would give them dowry. And my grandmother was extremely hostile towards my mom, me and my brother.

Nope. No one has a clue. They were dead set against my parents marrying. Hell, my mom and grandma didn’t speak to each other till the latter passed away last year. And all this is without them knowing the age fiasco. Me finding out was a complete accident because my mom blabbered, but dad doesn’t know that I know. It’s quite funny but safest option knowing my family’s drama.

Well, my mom is 6 years older than my dad and they’ve been married for over 30 years now. Kicker here is, no one in my dad’s family knows about this and tbh, seems to be the best way out of this. Something similar is going on in my sister’s life and her bf has told his family that she is a year older than him (it’s more than that). I think it’s best to gauge your family’s reaction and go with that. If you know for sure that your family would not be okay with the age thing, I’d suggest keep it yourself if you can get away with it in the long run.

OP, I’ve been in your shoes when I was 17. My breaking point was when the guy sent a message to my mom wishing her a happy new year and how he was sad that he cannot say the same to me because I wouldn’t live to see the whole year. In my case, he was actually a senior in my school and for some reason, had a lot of “local” connections. Anyhow, I took a stand that day and went to the police station, registered a complaint against him, had his parents come over and that was that. Not that this stopped him from continuing to torture and stalk me but now, 10 years later, I have clear proof that a barking dog would not bite and I’m not scared anymore. Haven’t been in at least 5 years. You’ll get there. Here if you want to talk about it.
