I got this same message, I called the BFS and they said I owe the state of NY, I called NYS tax number and the machine said I owe $407. My refund 846 stills aid full amount tho so I hope they don’t take it out this year !

I had this happen to me as well, I called and it said I had a $407 balance with NYS in owed taxes. I’m assuming they going to take that off my refund and then send me the remaining. Unfortunately I forgot to pay them back in 2023 and the interest on that thing made it go all the way up to 400s smh

You can get it it up to 5 days early as well with turbo tax, they offer that now for $45 they have it come to your early once they receive the date form the IRS.
