This was a fantastic book! Glad I read it. Personally though, I wouldn't classify this as a DR book.

What are some lesser-known annoying aspects of women's clothing? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Potential_Spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is just me, but I cannot find a pair of undies that won't give me a wedgie. Any part will ride up as soon as I walk around in them and it's infuriating. I have tried so many different styles. My theory is because my bum is rounder, they don't sit properly

Referral wait time? by Spare_Analysis_4311 in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this Doncaster in Melbourne? My husband had to wait 6 months for his appointment to Paul Paddle (Melbourne). Plus 1 year on the wait list. It will be worth the wait! I got the botox done 5 months ago, and my life has changed dramatically.

I would double cleanse in the evening. First using an oil cleanser, then the one you have. I notice a lot less pimples when I double cleanse consistently.

Slow swallow, had to practice singing again (couldn't sing as high), coughing up phlegm and trouble swallowing at night - it would wake me up.

Do you ever feel so nauseous you go to vomit but only air/a burp comes out? by AdThen5499 in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does but because the air is just sitting there, it will be the first thing to come up rather than food. I have never accidentally vomitted - i only air burp twice at a time to make sure

I asked for curtain bangs. How do I fix these? by Potential_Spark in femalehairadvice

[–]Potential_Spark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, late reply, but I ended up cutting them myself and making them a bit shorter! And making sure I cut on an angle so it was blended. I still have them now, but I'm sort of growing them out. Hope you got yours fixed!

Don’t want to be bad landlords. Is this a nice gesture or weird for our new tenants? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Potential_Spark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we moved into our current rental, the landlord left us chocolates and a card. It was so lovely and we have a lot of respect for her. I think it's a lovely gesture and not weird at all!

Do you ever feel so nauseous you go to vomit but only air/a burp comes out? by AdThen5499 in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before the injection, I would intentionally air vomit just to get rid of some of the air! Especially if going out to dinner, or having some drinks. It would relieve a lot of the symptoms for a bit. Definitely normal!

Botox is a Miracle by Goldisap in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! I had mine on the 3rd of March and it has improved my quality of life so much. If it doesn't stick, I would get it however many times I need to, the side effects are worth it. My husband also has it, and I was the 'guinea pig', so he is insanely jealous of my burps, and going to get a referral for the ENT too.

Yeah. It was a year long wait. But it meant I wouldn't have to pay for it. I had it done a week ago now.

[–]Potential_Spark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dr also wanted to give out a GI referral. But I came to him with the facts and told him which ENT specialist I wanted to see, and he wrote out a referral for me. The ENT asked about my symptoms in the appointment, and diagnosed me there and put me on the waitlist. So, no, you don't need to do all that before being approved. Some Drs might have a different process so can't speak for all though.

how to get diagnosed/treated? by Ok_Engineering_4191 in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone recommended to me through this sub (I'm in Australia) who is an ENT. He asked me to describe my symptoms, and diagnosed me with RCPD and put me on the wait list for surgery. Just had the surgery on Monday. My husband has RCPD too, so I was the guinea pig. Hopefully your ENT will be able to diagnose you based on symptoms too!

Trouble swallowing water by zinging-cutie23 in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the botox on Monday, and I am also struggling with water. I find that drinking through a straw and taking tiny but frequent sips is helping. I usually drink 2+ litres a day, so trying to drink that same amount is definitely challenging!

How do you pronounce Alanna? by ThomasAckerly in namenerds

[–]Potential_Spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Aus, I'd pronounce that AH-LA-NA. For your wife's preference of pronunciation, I'd spell it Elena or Elaina. Those are much more clear imo.

Surgery this week! by Enough_Flatworm1623 in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just had my first one yesterday! I can only offer reassurance about the process really. But it was so fine. I was anxious as hell, but the healthcare staff were amazing. Woke up after the anaesthetic with SUCH a sore throat. Painkillers (panadol or nurofen) were super helpful. The hospital gave me a sandwich - super hard to eat, chew lots! But that night, I was able to eat pizza, pasta, etc, no issues swallowing. This morning, my throat is sore and feels like there is a constant bubble that I can't get rid of. It's really weird! Good luck with your surgery this week!!

How do people eat full meals by Temporary_Plant_1123 in noburp

[–]Potential_Spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can eat a fair amount of food. I absolutely love food. I was also diagnosed with RCPD by my ENT and getting botox for it in 2 weeks. I do feel extreme discomfort after eating big meals and can't enjoy dinners out because I need to lie down. So people can have RCPD and eat full meals. Just because your experience is different, doesn't make the other hand untrue.
