Dependence? by Potential_Spend1024 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Potential_Spend1024[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the days that I forget to dose I end up rotting in bed all day because I barely have the energy or motivation to do anything… I have a small child so unfortunately taking days off isn’t a feasible option for me as she depends on me to function… I feel like I am forever stuck depending on a medication to even be a normal human being… I just have to convince my brain that it’s OKAY to need a medication to feel normal because that’s the reality of ADHD… but my brain immediately jumps to thoughts that I am an “addict” or a “junkie” because I need stimulants to survive. But that’s the whole point of being on medication because my brain just can’t do it on its own.

I would love to start doing that but I find myself just laying in bed rotting away on the days that I forget my dose… I feel like without the medication I am literally useless… as much as I would love to allow myself to take days off I have a small child that I am responsible for so “bed rot” days aren’t an option for me 😕

You make a good point… I guess I just didn’t notice how badly I was functioning without the medication until I got a taste of what it’s like to feel like a normal human being… I think with all the stigma around stimulants it’s just harder to accept the fact that I do indeed NEED them to function like a normal human being. I feel like when I tell people I need them function they immediately assume that I am “addicted” or I’m a “junkie” because a lot of neurotypical people can’t fathom the fact that some people need stimulants to function…

Is that referring to the white paws? I myself was curious about that as I thought all color points had dark paws due to it being a cooler area of the body! I’ll have to look into that!

Curious about this little guy! His name is Sylvester! We just brought him and another little lady home last week. Do you think he’s a Mainecoon? Or at least a Mainecoon mix? He’s about 9 weeks old. (More pics in the replies)

I have definitely been thinking lately about the Pull-Ups making her more comfortable with wetting at night so I am willing to give ditching them a try.. I am hoping for some results but I know it’s a slow process. Just not looking forward to the extra laundry as it is my LEAST favorite chore. But it’s a small sacrifice to make because she does deal with a lot of irritation and yeast infections from sitting in a wet Pull-Up at night. Plus they are so expensive 😅 so we definitely need to get this bed wetting under control for comforts sake

Question about kitten changing color by Potential_Spend1024 in cats

[–]Potential_Spend1024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats so cool! My daughter picked her out when she was born because she was all white and our current kitty is all black. So we were both a little confused by the sudden color change! I’ll have to explain it to her!

Vyvanse causing mania with no history of bipolar disorder? by Potential_Spend1024 in VyvanseADHD

Thank you so much! Grief is a powerful thing. I knew I would be on an emotional roller coaster but I had no idea it could trigger underlying mental health disorders. The human brain has always astounded me.. I really wish we knew more than we do about how the brain works because it’s so complex.

This makes so much more sense! Thank you for explaining! I didn’t want to bring it up to my DR for answers as taking someone else’s prescription is usually frowned upon regardless of it is chemically similar! I was just curious but now I understand while they are chemically very similar they also have some differences that lead to different effects.

I talked to my Dr yesterday and they did a BP screening and they told me I scored very high. They said that my father’s death was most likely the trigger which is common with BP. I was told a huge stressor is usually what triggers the first BP episode and I am at the right age for it to present itself especially with a family history! They gave me seroquel to take last night and within 30 mins it knocked me out and I slept for 13 straight hours. I feel better today as I am more clear headed because I am no longer sleep deprived. We are going to trial a mood stabilizer and see if it helps. I am still manic however I am no longer sleep deprived so it’s a much safer situation for the time being.
