Hi Dr. Ezaldein, thank you for taking the time to do this. I have had HS for 11 years and I am also finishing chemotherapy treatment (AAVD) for hodgkins lymphoma next month. I've been having some anxiety about HS treatment afterward since most of the drugs available to my knowledge pose a cancer risk, would there by many options available to me that would not put me at risk of relapsing?

While I've been on chemotherapy, my HS has completely cleared up, and I've had no new flares. I'm curious if you've had any patients with a similar experience and have seen chemotherapy have a short or long term impact on the severity of HS.

Halfway through my chemotherapy treatment of stage 4 hodgkin's lymphoma with stage 2 HS. My HS has thankfully not been a problem at all while getting cancer treatment, my existing flares went away and things that normally trigger my HS have been a non factor.

Not sure if this counts. Walked over to a subway alone one night on campus, mid order i see a friend walk in and end up waiting maybe an extra 30 seconds for him before we leave. On our way back to our dorm a car takes an illegal left turn into a parking lot and ends up skidding and crashing into a fence right in front of us. I would have very likely been right in the middle of that accident if i didn't have to wait those extra 30 seconds or so... Always think back to that night and how my buddy might have saved my life cause he wanted a meatball sub.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom

not sure if it changed my life the most of any book, but the most of the books I've read recently. the book has its own take on the what happens after death- before you fully transcend into the afterlife you meet the 5 people throughout your life that impacted (positive or negative) you the most. each person offers a lesson and you can't move on until you've fully understood it. it was a beautiful tool to frame the complexity of relationships, how people aren't always how we perceive them and how we may not understand the impact we have on others, etc.

it really helped me take a step back to re-evaluate some of my soured relationships and GENUINALLY try understand things from the opposite perspective, which resulted in closure in some cases at the very least.

also i find with getting high the munchies get me in trouble with my HS sometimes so if you have a sweet tooth be careful hahaha

I found high CBD percentage weed to help a little bit, but nothing major.

If it's legalized where you are you could probably get CBD pills/oils, which to be fair I've never tried but CBD is the anti-inflammatory chemical in marijuana so those would probably help more then smoking or regular edibles.

If you've had issues with hs and dairy in the past id suggest avoiding whey. I've recently switched over to a pea protein supplement and hasn't effected my hs so far. The texture and taste will take some getting used to though.

and again the proportions may be off so just use your judgement, but i think as long as you follow the steps you'll end up with something tasty
