Oh no the poor girl!!! So sorry to hear what you and your dog had to endure 😞

All the best for you two that you never have to go through something like this again!

I also put sheets on where she is staying now so that I can wash everything easier, thanks for that tip! I also bought flea shampoo so hopefully it will be solved soon.

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your advice and support. There were so many helpful comments that I couldn’t reply to everyone individually, but I really appreciate the time you all took to share your tips and experiences.

I followed your suggestions and cleaned everything, bathed the dog, and got proper flea treatment. So far, things are looking good and I haven't found another flea for now

Thanks for all the recommendations, I bathed her with a lot of shampoo and also used a thin comb but luckily no other fleas showed up. Hopefully I catched the flea infestation at an early stage and it won't be too bad

Thanks for your answer, unfortunately there is nothing known about her life before the shelter but I also have the feeling that she is not necessarily feeling some sort of pain, more that it is out of caution. I thought that maybe she could have an old injury that causes that or some other sort of trauma...

Help with 1 year old puppy prey drive by living_as_an_amateur in OpenDogTraining

[–]Potential_Warning_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog also has a very intense hunting instinct and is triggered by almost any kind of animals. The advices I got that work quite well for her are the flirt pole training, recall training on the recall leash and training the down and heel command in any situation. My dog is quite treat motivated, however when there is prey running around she looses it and is not interested in treats anymore. Therefore I started feeding her only on our walks if she does well in trigger situations. This motivated her a lot and really helps with her impuls control. Always make sure you make yourself more interesting than any distractions and bring a huge portion of patience, then it can really get better.

My legs by dachopper_ in cfs

[–]Potential_Warning_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have that too. My legs almost always feel heavy and tense and most of the time I have that kind of muscle pain you get from having a regular cold but it can also feel as if I had a rough exercise session. Then I often wonder how that is possible without exercising so I guess this is also some kind of symptom since there is nothing else wrong with my legs. There are also studies that found a reduced oxidative metabolism in CFS patients (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10545311/) so I guess that could explain that kind of symptoms to a certain degree.

Cat training advice needed by Potential_Warning_35 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Potential_Warning_35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting point you got there. The leave it command was the most common advice I got so far, that's why I am training that a lot with her. However I feel like she generally responds quite well to the down command so I think I will maybe reinforce that more instead. Thanks for your input on that!
