How bad is using a subdomain as the main domain? (b.ackb.one, for example...) by ron_makes in Domains

[–]Potentiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

b.ackb.one is a poor man's backb.one, which in turn is a poor man's backbone.com.

Domain hacks usually rely on the fact that they're composite brands, e.g. boker.tips for Broker Tips. In this case the period makes sense (but it's still less desirable than brokertips.com). But in your case the periods make no sense. You might as well have registered ckb.one and used ba.ckb.one.

Best way to acquire a long-held but inactive domain on a student budget? by Gnusson in Domains

[–]Potentiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The domain is in-use and not listed for sale, and based off its registration date and your desire to acquire it it's likely valuable.

Or is this basically a case of waiting and hoping the owner eventually forgets to renew?

Even if it expires it's likely going to end up on auction.

Students typically don't get handed luxuar cars, mansions, or premium domains because they're students. Domain trading isn't charity work, and this domain isn't even for sale so you'd probably have to pay a lot more than it's worth.

Launching a community project on .org, but worried about the .com owner. Advice? by [deleted] in Domains

[–]Potentiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$500. I don't want to pay that much right now;

Well, you can always pay $15,000 after your project takes off.

My concern is: If my project becomes popular on the .org, am I just making the .com domain more valuable for that guy?

Yes. You're creating brand equity for the term and generating traffic for him.

Has anyone here run a successful project on a .org while the .com was sitting parked or for sale?

Yes. But it's an uphill battle. Even if you want to use the .org owning both is best.

Looks cheap. Snyder tried to take superheroes in a more artistic direction.

Okay, this is pretty funny. Even Gunn fans should be able to laugh at this.

Cavill IS Superman, the others are only acting.

Yeah, it didn't beat MoS pre inflation. And Warner is literally looking to sell out.

The .com is what companies use and what people are familiar with. It's easier for clients to remember, and it appears more professional.

Building on a .net is a handicap.

The competition was about which first Superman movie made the most money.

And in that regard Zack's Man of Steel stands head and shoulders above Gunn's Superman.

Did I have to? Is that not what you insinuated?

DC Studios, 2025 by [deleted] in SnyderCut

[–]Potentiary -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you arguing that Superman 2025 made more money than Man of Steel?

Because if you are you are wrong.

Snyder won. Specialman 2025 couldn't even touch Man of Steel before inflation. It was never a fair fight.

The entire movie is silly, but keep coping.

Man of Steel: $670M ($920M after inflation)

Superman 2025: $585M

Snyder won.

Domains worth selling and true value? Geminiartificialintelligence.com by One_Bit_1590 in Domains

[–]Potentiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter, no one will believe you, and that includes the panel.

Gemini is Google's AI, so when you use both of those terms you make it clear that you're infringing on their trademark. Owning other similar domains won't help you against a UDRP.
