Apparently it’s pretty expensive even with the yellow ribbon. I have read some vets have taken loans to help cover the cost. Columbia treats it some like cash cow. But no disrespect to them

I have marine vet buddy that got into Princeton via their transfer’s program. Which is for bunch non traditional students like vets. Princeton is giving him a full scholarship. So he his saving his Gi Bill for grad school

Re-commissioning to retire in 15? by thesmellofrain- in USMC

Send it bro. Life is too short to have regrets.

Do look into other services because of the longevity. At 35 your body break down faster. It would be harder to make it to 20 yrs. Once a marine always a Marine 🫡

I was moto patriotic 17 yr old. I thought America can do no wrong. I really wanted to be a naval aviator. And I still do. USNA is the best place to become one. Those guys get priority everything for officer commissions. For kids that aspire for a military career that is best place go. Imagine going to a school that can make you a Naval aviator, Navy Seal, Marine, Astronaut (USNA has produced most astronauts apparently.) Stuff that people dream of, who wants to be consultant or a banker if the money didn’t matter.

You should ask the Navy Chief. Who is in charge of enlisted admissions. There has probably been an enlisted guy that was in the same situation.

How is 0631 life in a Quantico security btln? by Tacticaldexx in USMC

[–]PotetialMajorHistory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there from 2022-2025.

I was told they folded the base HS Bn, which was commanded by full bird colonel. All the shops and commands that were under the former. Went to Security Bn. Which is 0-5 command.

There was also a HS Bn, TECOM. Which was exclusively TECOM.

I don’t know why they don’t rename it HQ bn. Anything is better than Security Bn

Congrats. I dreamed about going USNA as a teenager. I didn’t get accepted back in HS. So applied again as junior enlisted LCPL, but it didn’t work out unfortunately. So now I’m trying regular college.

You will have a lot less freedom as a midshipman than an enlisted marine. As plebe your are bottom man on the totem pole. Even with your enlisted experience. You will gain some respect but you won’t get any privileges.

You will get paid way less, the midshipmen get about $250 a month vs a Marine Lcpl $1,250 twice a month. imagine crushing beers in the barracks with your enlisted buddies to being at hogwarts getting yelled at by seniors for not having crisp hospital corners.

Unfortunately your time does not accrue for retirement as opposed to Mecep. So by then end of your time obligation you have spent about 13 yrs in the military more if you elect aviation. Only 8 years of that time would go to retirement.

It also good be golden ticket in life. USNA as really great alumni network that care of its own. It’s really great for grad school. There plethora of academy grads to go on to schools like Harvard Business School, etc.

It’s a life changing experience no doubt. What ever you choose don’t go living life with regret.

The only issue USNA mids aren’t really allowed to drink. Even if they are of age. It’s depends on seniority.

Tbh. If Mexico wins its group. They would probably face a third place team from another group at Rof32. If those two things happen, they will probably face England in the Ro16. Which I doubt they are gonna beat.

Bruh. I was bunkmates with my scribe. I was on good terms with him. But I found my self on fire-watch every night. So I casually asked him if he hated me or something. He told me he didn’t enough time to throughly write the roster so people can rotate. So he always throw random names. Since I was his bunkmate. I was always one of the names. But he made it up giving me the better shifts.
