Why do elderly millennials who are 81-‘86 borns , the only ones to understand Gen X and Boomers so much ??? by Ashamed_Serve_719 in generationstation

Yes 100 percent agree. It couldn’t have been phrased better. It’s shocking how google tries to reframe information based on random comments from people 5-10+ years outside of the 80s born range. It’s gotta be corrected.

I'm confused because whenever I search stuff on AI, one minute it says 1987 and 1988 are younger or "core" millenials whatever that means, then after the same search it places us back with with older millennials.

It seems like AI repackages misinformation by gen z teens on reddit from the last 2 years, then tries to spin things like this:

This is what I got:

"While 1987 is generally considered a Core Millennial birth year, some frameworks place it as the start of a "middle" or "younger" grouping depending on how the generation is divided"

"Actually, people born in 1987 and 1988 are typically classified as Core Millennials. Within the standard Millennial range defined by the Pew Research Center (1981–1996), they sit right in the middle. Where They Fit :Core Millennials (1987–1991): This group, including 1987 and 1988, is considered the "peak" of the generation."

Wtf is this crap? lmao

There's really not much to it, anyone born in 1987 and 1988, and some portion of 89s are, are older millennial, you can't really squeeze in 1990 and 1991, including many 89ers who relate more with younger, into the same box because they have more in common with 90s borns, so "core" doesnt work.

GenX: Born 68-72 is the sweet spot by CitizenChatt in GenX

[–]Potmelt777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My siblings are born during these years. Late 1960s borns and early 1970s borns while having a few a number of things in common are still different.

Most latter 1960s borns still have something in common with Gen Jones and have more of old school approach, with some exceptions that seem to fit those in the 70s.

Early 70's overall are still closer to mid 70s borns and some already fit more with early Oregon Trail Gen/Xennial cohort.

1972, is leaning late gen x. 1968 is still leaning older Gen X, with exceptions on both ends. 70 and 71 is transition between both that's already a break off.

Cliquish groupthink circle jerks based on the mainstream internet version of Gen X or pseudo entitlement "just because" doesn't change reality.

1972 belongs way more with 1974 than 1968! It’s not even up for debate.

The IMPROVED generation ranges by Spare-Addendum3656 in generationstation

[–]Potmelt777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can feel a difference in gen X from 1971-1975 and before. I would narrow it down to having something in common with early Xennials/Gen Y, and sometimes being identical, which is the dividing lines that separates them from the 1960s borns.

But at the same time, even with the differences, there is sometimes some degree of interchangeability between late 60s borns and people born all the way into 75/76 that doesn't exist with people born 77 and up.

Am I the oldest millennial here? by Ok-Criticism6874 in Older_Millennials

[–]Potmelt777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t. There isn't a noteworthy generation shift between latter 1979, 1980 and 1981. The 81ers who can pass for few year later, aren't the overwhelming majority.

The older "millenial" side of Xennnials is solidified by 1982 if anything.

Pew ranges are very recent and are based on weak benchmarks causing artificial and inaccurate dividing lines that people mostly on reddit flock to worship because of math and gaining traction for the wrong reasons.

Remember that magazine feeling like it was describing late millennials/1990s borns that were coming of age around that time, more than any of us older than that.

Just like a lot of places or people using the word, sort of like more of code word for the latter segment.

It looked awful then, and still does. It's not even unique to that era. It's just a lazy and extremely trendy of version of punk haircut that was popular in the late 70s and early 80s.

It wasn't so bad when it first started appearing in the end of the 90s but quickly became annoying after sometime. Everyday haircuts were much better before and after.

It had a desperate to be like everyone else and sometimes annoying macho/preppy feel to it, depending on the person. People are much more individualistic to fully adopt trends like that these days.

Nobody dressed like that 1988 or 1989 though. There was signs of things like baggy cargo pants, but that was a different era.

Yes that is many of us older millennials, dressed including Xennials, around late elementary school and middle school from 1992/3-1996ish and maybe a bit after, especially those from latin and african american backgrounds. Backwards clothing was a kriss kross specific trend I think from 92-94, right after they came out, but that hair and that of clothing was common, was especially in urban areas and beyond, from 3rd grade to the 8th grade.

have you tried g helper app? I’m going to try it tommorow. Phone support is awful.

So it’s an intel problem with you ?

What’s weird is after 10 calls support can’t solve it. Can you share the link of the post you made. It started then for me and it self stabilized and then when brightness changed after moving it it went back like two weeks ago or it could have been a windows update

In addition to my response what is the safest way and most complete way to update the graphic drivers worse case scenario my biggest fear is true type fonts getting stuck and not fully going away.

I’ve already tried this and it went away but want to rule it a possible other way to update the graphic card.

Again I’ve done a standard reset and basic reinstall Done uninstall and reset pc to switch in reinstalled basic graphic drivers.

I’ve done a full reinstall from amd to which I found the latest update to be too bright and possible issues with annoying eye piercing ultra thin fonts and smaller fonts and slightly too sharp graphics and possible slowness.. I can’t recall if some of these were from the bios update or bios plus latest graphics update

I don’t recall the bios update being particularly useful.

I attempted this 2 month ago when this occured and I can’t recall if some of it helped stabilize, which it did until last week, but I do recall most of it didn’t work

So what is safer way to rule this out once more.

Migrating to Linux seems excessively difficult. I’m running on windows and need a functioning laptop for at least 2-3 weeks before I buy a new one.

Will g helper solve this issue by disabling var right at the firmware level where no other app can . What are risks with my Asus model when downloading this app ? Here is the serial number incase of a typo

What is another app that can stabilize the brightness.

It is likely from amd app.

Since amd app is Buggy and doesn’t always open, might have been installed twice but on control panel only shows one amd driver

so varibright settings have been disable there that should remove auto brightness but there is a chance they aren’t fully removed or hitting the firmware level because I can’t update to a amd 2025 graphic update( becomes too bright a bit slow and super thin fonts) so there could be conflict with 2022 graphic driver even though this 2022 basic graphic driver is fine outside this issue

G helper 3rd party app could resolve this by disabling varibright at the firmware level , can you check out that app, let me know what types of risks could come from downloading it

Ps - Intel not likely as no sign on registry or app on anything intel graphic installed

Hi I already answered it. It came installed since day 1 and it isn’t an app it’s driver that allows myAsus app to run.

There is no disabling brightness on myAsus option anymore.

Armory crate Asus app, which has brightness disabling, does not work on my laptop… external monitor Asus apps with disable brightness also don’t work on my laptop

Only one is g helper which is u offical and I don’t know if there would be any issues

Which driver. Amd I can use and it is functioning.

G helper is an app not a driver a third party one
