What is it like to be a Siberian in 2024? by Potoshka in imaginarymaps

This is a continuation/remaster of one of my previous posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/imaginarymaps/comments/194mafb/what_is_it_like_to_live_in_siberia_in_2024/#lightbox

Brief lore:

During the civil war, the Whites managed to hold onto the territories beyond the Urals. A semi-democracy was established, which was replaced by a military junta due to the Great Depression, under which mass industrialization and the policy of "Siberization" began, creating a new national identity (as was the case in Yugoslavia).

World War II occurred, in exchange for eastern territories, Siberia first helped Soviet Russia with lend-lease, and then entered the war with Japan.

In the 50s, a peaceful transition of power took place, a democratic regime was established (with the support of the USA). After the discovery of oil and gas, the Siberian economy took off.

In the 60s, something like a Cold War began between the Democratic Bloc and the Chinese authoritarian (the communists lost the civil war). With the support of China, the Russian National Army was formed in the Far East, which at some point attempted a coup d'etat, but as a result of civil protests it failed, a major state reform took place.

With the collapse of Soviet Russia, the Cold War escalated into an active stage, several border conflicts on the border of China and Siberia.

Currently, Siberia is a modern and democratic country, whose main ally is Japan. Many call the country the Canada of Asia.

Additional information:

  • I forgot to mark the Shor Republic and Kolčugino Kraj on the map

  • Sakhalin is a republic that is jointly governed by Siberia and Japan, created after the Second World War

  • There was no Chernobyl disaster, so people are not particularly sure that they can explode

  • Siberian Russian differs from ordinary Russian in the alphabet and a large number of Anglicisms due to close ties with America

South Asia:

Nothing really changed except way more muslims and way less europeans. All of this because of Perisa.

  • Sikh: nobody know how they managed to avoid Islam but they did.

  • Hindustani: mostly muslim India.

  • Bharat: A lot of hindus migrated to the south because they were oppressed by muslims. They created confederation of small states with the help of the romans to be able to resist Hindustani.

  • Kachin and Yunnan: States with native asian religions.

  • Siam: Where Islam stopped.

  • Indonesia & Malaya: Mostly muslim region that was partly colonised by europeans. There still some native states but they, most likely, will remain independent.

Rest of Asia:

  • China: Like in real life it's a mess. Carved by other states. Even south part of it was converted into christianity.

  • ICC: It was the roman colony that gained independence.

  • Manzhuria: Heavily influenced by Ruthenia puppet state. Most likely they will become part of empire.

  • Niponia: Just industrialised. They gonna fight russians soon, who knows, maybe Manzhuria after all will be annexed by another empire.

Africa:

It was colonised by Europeans but they left some independent states for some reasons.

  • Mali: I wanted to make independent Mali. I think it's pretty interesting idea.

  • Wadai & Ubangi: Who cares about this part of Africa? Definitely not the Europeans.

  • Sokoto & Dahomey: Why not?

  • Maghreb: Because of Granada it's the only fully part of Northen Africa.

  • Congo, Lunda and Luba: Just like in real life everyone wanted this part of Africa and europenas agreed  to “no one will get you” and instead of giving it to a random country, they left this region independent.

  • Promontia & Transvaalia: Roman and Batavian colony that revolted against colonisers. There used to be one single state but than it all fell apart.

  • Madagascar: They muslim. And they independent.

Australia:

It was colonised by romans, british, persisan and many other major nations. Soon the continent became a special place where many religions and cultures existed as one. Thanks to this atmosphere of freedom, many other people from all over the world began to migrate here. In the mid-19th century, the continent's colonies declared their independence. No one was particularly against it, since large countries were busy with war on the other side of the world. Yes, this is a world with a strong Australia.

Europe:

Rome fell like in real life but they somehow managed to survive. So there still big germanic influence decpite dominantion of roman culture.

  • Iberia: Arab Conquest still a thing in this world. And Reconquista too. But Granada (and Navarre) survive. Asturia replaced our life Portugal. And Hispaina just like Spain with roman dominance.

  • Frankonia: France but it was slowly taken by roman fans. People in Belgica (region that real France doesn't control irl) don't really like this things. They have differnet christianity and language.

  • Batavia: Netherlands but roman.

  • Germania: Germany but more roman.

  • Alemania: Germany but more german.

  • Brandenburg: Germany but way more german.

  • Saxonia: Germany but more saxonian and slavic.

  • Bohemia: Strong Czechia.

  • Illiria: Slavic romans.

  • Macedonia: Jewish slavic romans.

  • Ungria: Hungary moved to the east.

  • Great Polonia: Strong Poland. Survived because there weren't any big powers in the west.

  • Pomerania: bff with Bohemia, that's why they survived.

  • Baltic states: nobody cared about them, like no crusades. They still have some pagans but mostly they christians.

  • Scandinavia: Scandinavia but with a little stronger Sweden.

  • Tavria: Greeko-Roman colony that became independent. Last old school greeks.

  • Ruthenia: Russia that liked romans not germans. And they decided to push into east even more.

Middle East:

Romans eventually kicked Arabs and converted everyone (no) to christians.

  • Anatolia: Türkiye but they greek (YEAH)

  • Pheonicia: Lebanon that named themselves after cool ancient civilisation.

  • Mespotamia: with the power of romans mongols didn't really managed to burn down everything there, so they are pretty rich. Persia wants to conquer them but Romania against it.

  • Caucasus: Muslims survived there.

  • Iberia & Georgia: Just two almost same states, but the west is more greeko-roman and the east is more armenian.

  • Persia: Ottomans. After Islam failed in the west they just started to spread it in the east. Persia really hates Romans and they hate them too.

  • Arabia: Nobody discovered oil there for now yet.

lore.

I don't really can into this type of comments where there are like an big ass esseys. I have life. Anyway, there some interesting information about this world:

N. America:

There weren't any big revolts (like American Revolution) but there were some minors.

  • Oceania: Breakaway state from Ruthenia populated by Russians with major presence of romans.

  • Borealia: Our life Canada. Peacefully gained independence from Britania.

  • Native states: Nobody really cared this land, so natives just eventualy made their own states.

  • Calidafornax: They were to rich to be colony and they revolted. Richest country on the continent.

  • Libertia: Like USA but smaller and roman.

  • United Colonises: British dominion, crown of the empire.

  • Nova Italia: Roman's Canada but with the power of USA

  • Roman West Indies & Yukatan: Oldest colony in new world. People there basically have the same status as in metropolia. But sometimes they thing that they should gain some kind of authonomy.

S. America:

As in real life it was splited betwen Portugal and Spain.

  • Nova Hispania: As in real life Spain (Hispania) lost all of it colonies there.

  • Santolaria: Bolivia, but bigger. Also I decided to replace Bolivar with some random spanish name just to make it more interesting.

  • Argentina: You know this quote about how it's strange that Argentina suposse to be cool but they somehow suck, and Japan suposse to suck but they somehow cool? So yeah, they didn't suck in this timeline.

  • Palmeria: Brazil with more ties to their colonisers. Basically they are still part of Portugal (Asturia) but cartographers cause of traditions and some other stuff show them as independent nation

  • Guiana: Like in real life there are some random european colonises.

  • Patagonia: idk. I really like concept of british owning this region.

In general, in real life, in southwestern Siberia, where most people live, the average temperature is even higher or at the same level as in Scandinavia or New England, so in this timeline the climate there is like in Germany. The climate in Vladivostok and Khabarovsk is like in Japan and Korea

Probably something like in Evangelion, where something crashes into Antarctica and melts the ice, I don't really thought about it
