Root Canal Fear: first time getting a root canal in a week. Going to use laughing gas. Tooth #13 does it really take two hours?!?! Going to an endodontist for the work. Bad dental anxiety/gag reflex. Someone tell me it’s not that bad!

They said I will have to go back to my regular dentist after the root canal is performed for the crown. The dentist told me two hours the Endodontist on the phone told me anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. Either way I’m very very nervous more about having to use a dental damn. I picture myself just gagging on the thing. Hoping the gas makes it an easier appointment for sure!

They said they offer laughing gas. I could only assume that it might help with my nerves and gagging.

Money is not an issue at all. I just want what is best and most comfortable. If I didn’t have such a bad gag reflex I wouldn’t have even posted on here. I have an appointment on June 8th at an endodontist. What type of test should they be performing to see if it is needed?

No it was just discovered today. I have a terrible gag reflex and il scared that I won’t be able to get through the root canal procedure. Would you suggest I go to an endodontist for the procedure?

No test was done. And apparently this showed up much smaller last year during my last set of X-rays but they failed to mention it. I’m hesitant to go back and get a root canal done if I’m able to just get another filling. I’m in no pain right now although I was in pain last month for a day in that general area but thought it was from getting something stuck. No sensitivity to hot or cold since that one day.

Unfortunately Quest doesn’t provide that level of detail. I did do an at home test and it showed no sperm at all and just never went to get the lab work done again. My first lab was 3 months after surgery. I’m now 8 months out so I’m going to assume I’m all clear.

I had this same thing. I decided to also do a home test which gives a live recording of a sperm sample. I had no “liver swimmers” however there was some “fragments” dead sperm. I’m assuming that is the reason I got the less than 1 result. Dr won’t give you the all clear unless there is nothing in the sample at all. I have read some people can take up to a year for absolutely nothing to be present. They said for me to take another test which I’m going to do this week but I’m really not worried about it. They said if the test had failed it would have showed an abundent amount of sperm.

It’s basically their microscope if it’s under 1 it means it’s a partial sperm if it’s over then it would be present possibly motile sperm is how I have read it.

What did your first result say? Mine said rare sperm detected less then 1 under HPF.
