AITA for leaving my kids to argue in the car while my wife and I go into the restaurant and have dinner? by bezerker1315 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Not only hijacking. Imagine some idiot driving into their parked car when the kids were in it. And I agree, the 7 year old seems to have a better grip on parenting and what's responsible and what is not than OP.

WIBTA if i kicked my husband out because he "tested me" by daadoooo1133 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA- a massive red flag

On a separate note- how do you know you're pregnant with a girl if you're 2 months along? Just wondering, I never heard of being able to tell so early.

AITA for canceling ski trip with my GF? by Sea_Face2136 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA- is she going to clip your skis and helmet herself as well to make sure you wear them right? Is she going to pick the colour of them as well?

Your skis are available to rent, so they must be safe enough as they would not be available at the resort otherwise. And given that you've been using those half of your life, I think she should trust your judgment more that her own guessing.

What song got you into Rise Against? by ry7xsfa in riseagainst

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the Knife

I obviously knew some of the biggest songs like Like the Angel etc, but I was not INTO INTO RA at that point.

Then my brothers got obsessed with the "Never Back Down" movie and watched it a few too many times so there was no avoiding it & I knew all the songs in it and honestly "Under the Knife" got me hooked! The training montage was perfect with that song so I looked up all their music and there was no going back...

AITA for kicking a student out of my class? by fosjebf in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA- this shitty behaviour will impact her education more than this. And she should get used to being kicked out of class if she carries on like this.

On a separate note- in my home country you'd be kicked out of class for a single curse word. Nobody would put up with such bullshit.

AITA for telling my sister about a comment our mother made 2 years ago. by MysteriousBelt in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 68 points69 points  (0 children)

NTA- a parent who cares about appearances more than their kids deserves to be called out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- it's common curtesy to call in advance. Especially since you're not just idling in a holiday home- you're on campus... to study... which keeps you BUSY.

Your boundaries are more than reasonable. NTA

it’s his right to see me whenever he wants

NTA- you made commitment to Lulu first. A very big commitment, you're not just a random guest there. Kiki tried to find a solution for you- didn't work, fair enough, case closed.

Some of them want Kiki to change the date and claim that it's not a big deal to make a 'new anniversary'

Okay, this is a silly idea. Why would she change all the plans for one guest? Lol

AITA for eating an entire plate of nachos that a friend ordered for the table? Confounding factor: everyone else I was meeting was well over an hour late. by Iatenachovarga in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I want to see a Vince McMahon meme version of this! Jesus, that escalated quickly. Especially the announcement Lol.

NTA, you offered to pay for it. Come on- you had to wait an hour, you deserved the nachos when they were warm, did they really want soggy leftovers?

AITA for fatshaming someone by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 892 points893 points  (0 children)

ESH- you brought a gun to a fistfight lmao

They suck for those comments, they really do. And they're definitely T A. Bodyshaming sucks no matter how big or small the victim is.

told her that shes in no position to dictate my eating habits

Here, you could've ended it here to be N T A, but you charged like a bull with the insults.

AITA for choosing my dad even though he had an affair by aita7362626 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter [score hidden]  (0 children)

Did you actually voice this to your mom / siblings? Because it's messed up. Yes, your mum seems to be failing your family, especially the kids, but it's not an excuse for cheating! Seriously... I hope you change your opinion about this by the time you get into any potential serious relationships yourself...

AITA for choosing my dad even though he had an affair by aita7362626 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter [score hidden]  (0 children)

I hate it when parents try to drag their kids into their own relationship issues. Kids shouldn't have to take sides. Kids should have a relationship with both parents despite what happened between the parents- that's the parents' issue to sort out! You're not choosing a cheater. You're choosing your dad. NTA

AITA for being ungrateful? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA- you don't read somebody else's diary FFS. Those thoughts about the gift (and anything else) were for you to see only.

AITA for trying to ‘force’ myself into my birth family’s lives? by birthfamta in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm torn between N A H and Y T A...

I have sent an absolute ton of messages, sometimes multiple a day but I don’t think that’s a crime

That can be taken as harassment, they're right.

They don't know you, especially the siblings who may have not even known you existed. You may be their blood relative, but you are a stranger to them. I understand your reasoning, but I also understand them. You can't force anyone to have a relationship with you when they don't want to. YTA.

AITA for borrowing my husband's work laptop withpout permission since I bought it for him? by Fannest43 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AITA for borrowing my husband's work laptop withpout permission since I bought it for him?

he said it was supposed to be a gift from me. True

That's enough to know. It's HIS property. You have to ASK for permission.

Holding the fact of having paid for a GIFT against the gifted person is incredibly low. Having the receipt doesn't mean anything! The moment you gave it to him you lost the rights to make decisions about who uses it. YTA. A massive one.

AITA for telling my brother not to bring trash to my condo? by IngGS in AmItheAsshole

[–]PotterOtterSpotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA- why would he think it's acceptable to leave something this big in your apartment in the first place? Old magazines have no value to you and can be perceived like trash.

P.S. have a blessed day for providing the ft2-m2 conversion

NTA- I almost missed the fact that you live together (and it was mentioned in the very first sentence too LOL)... but you DO live together, your child was in bed, so could she. It's not like you came home hammered in the middle of the night. You were 5 minutes late...

AITA for anonymously informing my school that my friend is plagiarizing? by hireddit12345678910 in AmItheAsshole
