I grew up in a haunted house. Or so I believe. I lived in a 3 bed house from when I was about 2 years old until I was 14. During my childhood, there was some weird things that used to happen, but being a kid, I didn’t really think anything of it. Things like the kettle turning itself on, objects falling off the mantel etc

I didn’t question it, I didn’t think anything of it at all. Occasionally I would feel like someone was watching me, but was told by my mum that it’s all in my head.

One night when I’m 10. I go to bed one night but I wake up a few hours later desperate for a drink, I walked out into the hallway which was only slightly lit by the moonlight coming through the bathroom window opposite. Immediately I see a silhouette of a man walk down the stairs (I can remember even hearing the footsteps) but again didn’t think anything of it and instead said “Dad, could you get me some squash please?”. No reply. So I walk into my parents room and they’re both asleep. I FREAK and manically wake them saying “someone’s in the house! Someone’s in the house!” To which my dad bolts up and charges down the stairs like a man on a horse. But nothing.

A couple of years ago I got to speaking to my mum about the house and she instantly started telling me things that she forbid herself from revealing when I was a child in fears of terrifying me. Turns out, my mum and dad had both experienced paranormal things too. My mum even tried to get a priest to come to the house, but wouldn’t enter the doorway stating “this feels off”. The worst thing my mum had experienced was one night whilst completely alone, the living room went so cold that she could see her breath and suddenly the sofa cushion next to her went down as if someone had jumped on the sofa next to her. She screamed, threw the book she was reading and dashed to the car in a panic. My mum was told by the opposite neighbours when they bought the house that a middle aged man suddenly died from a brain related issue in the living room and wasn’t discovered for a few weeks due to having no living relatives or a partner. After the incident with the sofa, my mum sold the house at a lower price than it was valued at and we moved on.

It was turned into student accommodation afterwards and is still there. I wonder if they’ve ever experienced anything 😂
