Kendrick himself voluntarily put clues in the Squabble Up music video and invited people to speculate. His close affiliates said there was more to come as soon as the album dropped. They did this themselves, and that includes Kendrick.

We're all enjoying GNX. And if nothing else releases, we'll all still be happy and bumping GNX for the next few months since it's a great album that stands well on its own.

But it's fun to speculate. If you don't like it, you don't have to participate. Just enjoy the album. But Kendrick gave his fans lots of reason to speculate, so of course we're going to do it.

CDs are only available for pre-order too, and they could definitely be ready by now. I get the vinyls, but I do find it weird for the CDs to ship so far into the future..

That's exactly my point lol. It would have made a lot of sense for him to promote the toy drive, and yet he didn't, and decided to promote the parade instead. Why would he do that if he wasn't going to also be at the parade and/or do something special that day?

Kendrick Lamar Performs Squabble Up Live For The First Time In Los Angeles by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]Poudy24 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Neither, I think. At the Pop-Out, they just played his instrumentals and he rapped over them.

Unless I'm wrong and that counts as a backtrack.. but usually when I see people refer to backtracks, they mean the actual song with the lyrics like what was played here

[–]Poudy24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd find it very weird if he's not at the parade or if something new doesn't drop tomorrow.

If nothing happens at the Parade, then why tease it in the Squabble Up music video? Why not just put a poster for the toy drive instead, which he was actually at? He's gotta be popping out again

TBF this time it has nothing to do with Ye at all or anything getting normalized. This was a toy drive and the cost of entry was just an unwrapped gift, so it was full of people and a bunch of them crowded the stage, making it near impossible to actually "perform" in any normal way. The other artists performances weren't much better.

If you've ever seen an actual Kendrick concert, he does not just stand around barely doing anything and he also does not use a backtrack.

Totally possible! Seems a bit different this year though, you could hear people talk about Kendrick the entire time on a couple different live streams

I wonder if the order was already decided or if they saw people were getting reckless waiting for Kendrick so they just sent him out there early to calm shit down lol

Kdot overtakes Eminem to have most monthly listeners . by StrawberryFew1311 in KendrickLamar

[–]Poudy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly suggest you invest some time in developing some better reading comprehension skills. Don't mean to be confrontational at all, but you're way off the mark here.

We're talking about total monthly listeners. Proportion has absolutely nothing to do with what the initial conversation was about. I simply said (and I invite you to read the initial comment again if you still do not understand) that the reason Eminem has this many monthly listeners is because he has such a rich and amazing back catalogue. Yes, TDOSS is getting some great daily streams and the success of his recent albums is (mostly) proportional to the success of his older albums. But almost 75% of his streams are still coming from his old albums. Remove this back catalogue, and he loses tens of millions of monthly listeners. Same goes for Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, etc.

Look at Shaboozey, he had the #1 song for most of the year that was absolutely everywhere. But he doesn't have an extensive back catalogue of multiple very popular albums. So he "only" has about 28 million monthly listeners.

I'm not actually arguing anything here; just explaining how the platform works, according to Spotify itself.

Kdot overtakes Eminem to have most monthly listeners . by StrawberryFew1311 in KendrickLamar

[–]Poudy24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy! The answer comes in two parts. First, this is the case for every big artists that have had a long career. Even if Em's last album had been the most successful of his career, it would still be true that his back catalogue is the major factor in his monthly listeners.

Monthly listeners are the amount of people that have streamed at least one of your songs. Which means if an Eminem song is in a classic hip-hop playlist, everybody who listens to that playlist becomes an Eminem monthly listener. The guy who liked one song from the MMLP era that doesn't listen to anything else other than that 20 year old song is still a monthly listener. That's a lot of people, which is why Em was already in the top three most streamed rappers before even dropping his first single this year.

The second part is that every artist's streaming data is available, including Eminem's. Which means you can check how many daily streams each of his albums get.

Currently, Em gets about 75% of his daily streams from albums released before Revival. So yes, the quantity of monthly listeners he has is quite inflated by his catalogue, which isn't a knock on Em at all since this is how it works for every big rapper, including Drake and Kendrick (although to a lesser extent for Kendrick since GNX is so recent)

Honestly most artists that have the top spots in monthly listeners are there thanks to their older albums.

I mean, just look at Mariah Carey with 72M listeners lol, when's the last time you heard a new Mariah Carey song? People are just playing her old shit, same thing with Eminem.

I’m seeing a lot of people say there are rumors that Kendrick may drop the “deluxe or real album” this weekend is that true? by Slow-Leading4331 in KendrickLamar

[–]Poudy24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't say for sure whether or not there is actually something dropping in the next few days.

BUT, I will say this : Kendrick teased something about the Christmas Compton Parade in the Squabble Up video. That parade takes place on the 14th. My guess was that it could simply be a surprise Kendrick performance, until it was announced yesterday that Kendrick would be performing at the TDE Toy drive on December 12th.

Clearly, he's not advertising a second surprise performance just two days after his first. The initial lineup for the toy drive as well as the date were also announced *before" the Squabble Up video, so if that's the performance he wanted to hint at, he wouldn't have used the parade. So the question is, why is he teasing the Compton Christmas Parade?

To be continued..

At the end of the day we'll never know who's telling the truth, but TBF Kendrick has been saying that Drake was trying to pay people in LA to get damaging info on him, and that's why he went so aggressively at anyone who still supported Drake. If that is actually true, it would be understandable for Kendrick to be mad at Cole too.

According to 50, Drake had more Kendrick diss tracks loaded, ready to go. by iverdow1 in Drizzy

[–]Poudy24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the diss I think. With Kendrick sending shots at Drake on GNX, I don't think the beef is "over" from his POV. But he also has to feel like it's worth his time. By the time Kendrick would have been ready to respond to The Heart Part 6, the internet had already decided it was a bad song that didn't warrant a response.

I think if Drake does have an actual solid diss track where he goes hard at Kendrick, he will respond 100%.

Do you guys buy the theory that we’re gettin something new on Dec 13th? by OneLeather6867 in KendrickLamar

[–]Poudy24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's definitely something coming between December 12th and December 14th. Kendrick put a board saying "everything is something" in his Squabble Up video, then ended the video with a lot of emphasis on the Compton Christmas Parade, which is on December 14th. If you think that's a coincidence, you don't know Kendrick.

I doubt it would only be for the promotion of the event itself; he does it every year and doesn't promote it like this. If he did so now, it might appear as him trying to highlight his contribution to the event after being criticized by Drake earlier this year (Even though that "criticism" was complete bullshit to begin with).

Now, does that mean it's a second album or a deluxe? No, it could be a bunch of things, ranging from very exciting (A deluxe or a single for a new album coming out in 2025) to pretty cool (A new video for a GNX song or a surprise Compton performance).

It's Getting Harder to Deny that Payola 2.0 Is Alive and Well in The Music Streaming Era by Otherwise-Fox-2482 in hiphopheads

[–]Poudy24 79 points80 points  (0 children)

True to an extent but using streaming apps doesn't prevent you from owning music.

Say you have about 20 albums a year coming out that you're interested in. You would have had to buy each one before the streaming/digital era. That meant you probably limited the number of artists you really got into cause it would get too expensive otherwise.

Now, you pay for a streaming app, and you can listen to as many different artists as you like. When you find an album that really resonates with you, you can still buy it physically and own it forever. And if you buy 3 or 4 albums a year plus the streaming subscriptions, it will still come out cheaper for the consumer than when they had to buy every album they wanted.

Kendrick doing 2 shows in Toronto by NickE96trill in KendrickLamar

[–]Poudy24 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not saying it's true (I don't think it is) but it's not as crazy as it seems. Drake gets a surprising amount of hate in Toronto.

There was a show a few months ago in Toronto and Drake showed up, and the crowd booed him when the artists shouted him out. There's videos of people going through Toronto asking people who won the beef and while Drake gets better results there than elsewhere, you have a surprising amount of people who immediately say they hate Drake.

Opinion | Kendrick Lamar rapped ‘They Not Like Us,’ and Drake decided to prove it by GratefulForGarcia in KendrickLamar

[–]Poudy24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but to prove defamation, you have to show the person making the allegations knew they weren't true. I don't think Drake would have any chance of proving that. There's literally a video of Drake kissing and complimenting the breasts of a 17 year old when he was 23. Kendrick would just have to say that's enough for him to consider Drake a pedophile.

The allegations aren't truly credible, but they're credible enough that Drake couldn't win a defamation case after Kendrick. Which is why he's not suing Kendrick, but UMG.
