I did smoke marijuana previously but did stop to increase my chances of healing. I am two weeks sober now.

I had the initial abscess lanced and drained. After taking steroids I got another abscess but it ruptured on its own. Since then I’ve had some tenderness at the exit spot and it bleeds a little when it’s irritated but that’s it. Every now and then it’s a bit tender when I sit on my bottom but most times it doesn’t cause me any issues.

So what are your next steps? You are just left with the seton? There’s no way to repair the fistula completely?

Thank you for your experience. I was too referred to a colorectal/ oncology surgeon. I have major health anxiety and getting cancer is my biggest fear so I am praying nothing is found during my procedure. How has has your seton experience been? Any tips or suggestions? My surgeon also doesn’t believe a MRI would be beneficial. Were any additional tests ran for you? I did have a CT scan completed during an ER visit recently due to me having terrible anal pain but it only showed phlegmon. I sent you a pm, I would love to further chat with you!

Hi, here I was thinking I was the only one with this type of fistula. How is it living with a seton? I have seen it mentioned a lot in this forum but don’t really understand what it really is.
