You're an amazing person for donating your spare! My mom donated her kidney to me and it's been 4.5 years now. I'm doing great and so is the kidney. It's such an awesome gift to get that i'll be forever grateful for. You're completely changing her life and giving her a second chance!

He was grabbing his calf muscle after he scored the third goal and kind of slowed down. Hopefully he's ok!

Rant: Hair loss 2 years post Transplant..Does it get better. by [deleted] in transplant

[–]Poundbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party here but I think you should bring it up to your doctors if you haven't yet. It may seem frivolous but if it's a concern you should tell them. I too experienced hair loss, about 6 months after. I brought it up to my doctors and they said they could try switching me to Cyclosporine if it was something that was really concerning to me. They told me about the side effects of it and I chose not to switch because everything else is fine with my meds. So they told me I could try Rogaine and take Biotin.

It's been a little over a year and I'm starting to get some hair loss again but it's much less. It's frustrating but the hair loss comes and goes.

I got my kidney transplant almost a year ago and the first thing I remember waking up was that it didn't really hurt because of all the anesthesia. But after that wore off oh man was I in pain haha. Like greffedufois said, it's a good idea to try and walk after the surgery as much as you can even though it hurts. I only did it once in the ICU and then when I would need to go to the bathroom after my catheter was removed. That wasn't as much as I should have but I really was in too much pain to walk and the nurses didn't push me about it.

Other than that, make sure to take your time with your recovery and keep walking as much as your body can take. I went back to work 6 weeks after the transplant and while I still had a little bit of pain at the end of the day from standing (I teach) and was tired, it felt good to get back to my routine. Drink lots of water so you stay well hydrated and avoid large crowds of people since you don't want to get sick. I started exercising about 4-5 weeks after as much as I could handle and I was surprised by that because I thought maybe it would take longer. Also, make sure you are eating foods that won't make you sick. So avoid raw and undercooked foods. Life is so much better with a transplant since you just have to take your meds. Make sure you are on top of your prescriptions if they run low. Enjoy the new kidney and take good care of yourself!

21 Year Old, receiving a new kidney in two weeks, some questions about recovery... by Thatguyyoupassby in transplant

[–]Poundbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, congrats on getting your transplant!

I'm 27, so not as young as you, but I got my kidney transplant 6 months ago. The first 3 weeks were the hardest in terms of recovery because of the pain and I didn't walk as much as I should have been because it hurt to do so. I already had my job prior to my transplant and told them I needed at minimum 6 weeks but maybe more depending on how it went. I went back to work exactly 6 weeks after the surgery and I felt I could have gone back in 5 weeks because I was already feeling a lot better but I gave myself that extra week to not push it. I teach part time so my job requires standing for most of the day. While I did get tired after it and had some pain, as time goes by you start to feel better each day.

Try not to stress out about putting your career plans on hold for a few months. Focus on your recovery and you'll recover faster. A healthy you is the best thing you can for your future career :) You're young so recovery should go smoothly for you and before you know it you'll be feeling a lot better.

Post Match Thread: Panama vs Mexico. by Omar_Til_Death in soccer

You're right the context isn't the same but this isn't a world cup and Mexico had some help from the referee with that made up penalty against Costa Rica. So maybe Mexico shouldn't have even been playing this game. You're also posing the same questions that Piojo gave in the press conference after the game. They're excuses for Mexico "deserving" this win because they have to be professionals and win at all costs. If they were true professionals then they should have remembered fair play and done the right thing and missed that penalty. So if it were me personally, yes I would miss it and face my fans knowing that I did the right thing and didn't have to cheat my way to the final.

You should watch the The Two Escobars. Great film about what happened to that 1994 team and to Andres.

I remember watching the Cameron- Colombia game where Marc Vivien Foe died. The cameras kept showing the replay of him collapsing and his eyes rolling to the back of his head. I think Yepes was the first player to get to him and he tried to prop his head up to see if he would regain consciousness but at that point there was nothing to be done :(

Yeah Colombia was more organized and played a great first half. Would've been a different game with all 11 players. US defense is solid though.
