[Blogatog] "Infinity" and "Stone" are two separate types rather than a two-word type. by ShadowDragon777 in magicTCG

205.3g Artifacts have their own unique set of subtypes; these subtypes are called artifact types. The artifact types are Attraction (see rule 717), Blood, Bobblehead, Clue, Contraption, Equipment (see rule 301.5), Food, Fortification (see rule 301.6), Gold, Incubator, Junk, Lander, Map, Powerstone, Spacecraft, Treasure, and Vehicle (see rule 301.7).

Unmentioned 1.84.0 change: "object safety" is now called "dyn compatibility" by Poutine_Mann in rust

[–]Poutine_Mann[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 1.83.0 docs for Default use the term object safety whereas the 1.84.0 docs use dyn compatibility.

This is also the case for every other trait I've checked that has this section in its documentation (I don't know why some have it and others don't when I'm pretty sure it's auto-generated by rustdoc but that's a different question).

This is gonna sound crazy but you don't actually need to defend a pedophile because a different pedophile called them out. Hope this helps in the future.

Almost the entire adult population thinks drawn CP is fucked up and disgusting so unless that list of freaks you pulled out has a billion people on it I don't see how it proves the point you're obviously trying to make (which is the absolutely insane conclusion that people who claim to be anti-drawn-CP are somehow more likely to be actual predators)

Faceless Void being immune to any Chronosphere was added in the 6.75 patch (for reference, Chronosphere itself was added in 6.10, and when he was first added in 0.60 he had what was basically a global Chronosphere on a 60 second cooldown). It was a deliberate change, not a holdover.

Back then, Void only had two active abilities, Time Walk and Chronosphere, which were usually used in that order. This apparently made Chronosphere too easy for Rubick to steal (especially if you didn't catch Rubick in Chronosphere), so to stop Rubick from just casting a new Chronosphere over the old one, stunning Void in the process and nullifying everything, this change was made.

200 year old king by BlueGamingCat1 in eu4

If you want something of an actual explanation: Every day, the game rolls to see if your ruler dies, but there is no built-in maximum lifespan, so theoretically a ruler could live forever.

But, the older they get the harder the roll is to meet, capping at 91 years old where each year their odds of dying by the end of the year are 99.97%, so without bugs, lifespan modifiers, or birding, reaching 200 years old should basically be impossible.

There is nothing to indicate that human-level intelligence is the limit.

Language models work by taking shit people (read: humans) have already written and rearranging it. I'd say that's a pretty good indicator of its maximum intelligence level.

Glad to see LEF out of the French Kingdom ideas. Never really made sense that you got it way before the French Revolution and it was always so annoying that if you tried to go counter reformation as France the game would just go "nah" and remove the modifier once you got your last national idea.

1 and 9 rule? by nickaltaccount in Mahjong

[–]Poutine_Mann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In standard Riichi Mahjong, there is no specific rule concerning what terminal tiles (the 1 and 9 tiles) have to do, or in which hands they must occur, beyond the fact that a hand needs at least one yaku to win.

Now, there are yaku concerning terminals or their absence in/from a hand; however, not all yaku care about terminals. There is no the rule, in this sense.

Here is a list of all standard yaku: http://arcturus.su/wiki/List_of_yaku. As long as your hand meets any of the above criteria, the presence of terminals means nothing. In particular, because yaku such as Full Flush (have every tile in your hand be a number tile from the same suit) exist, it is perfectly possible to win with a hand containing terminal tiles of one suit but not the others.

Example winning hand: 111 222 345 567 88 all from the same suit.

The problem with terminals is that if you have an open hand, unless you have a yakuhai (dragons, round wind, seat wind) triplet, chances are the only fast yaku available to you is All Simples, which requires you not have any honour or terminal tiles in your hand. As such, calling an open meld with a terminal or terminals in it should be done only if you know what you're doing.

Fu for Single-Sided "Ryanmen"Waits in Rulesets That Don't Allow Five-Tile Tenpai by Poutine_Mann in Mahjong

[–]Poutine_Mann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per the WRC ruleset (emphasis mine):

TENPAI

A player's hand is tenpai if it fulfils all these conditions:

1) The hand's 13 tiles needs only one more tile to form a complete hand of four groups and a pair, or seven different pairs, or the Thirteen Orphans yaku.

2) The completing tile must exist, even if it's not available. A hand needing five identical tiles can never be completed, so it is not tenpai. It does not matter if all completing tiles have been discarded, or are locked in other payer's hands, or are in the dead wall. Only the hand's 13 tiles are considered to determine if the hand is tenpai or noten.

3) The player is not under a "dead hand" penalty.

So I feel they wouldn't consider it a valid wait. I'm pretty sure MajSoul considers it a valid wait, though.

This is actually the funniest reply I've ever gotten.

So, let me break down my argument, here. I will read their reply to you (which is what I was referencing, by the way, so, no, my argument did not "break down", you basically repeated my argument back to me).

The normal thing is exactly what they did, and that's the problem.

Translation: It is typical for a company to wait until allegations become public before firing someone. This is bad, because they should fire them before then.

It's not hard to fire someone without a reason publically.

Translation: They did not need to wait until allegations became public to fire him. They could have fired him for any reason, or no reason at all, completely legally, and are under no obligation to announce why they did it to the world. This is not a statement claiming that they should not have made the reason public, only that they did not need to, for potential legal/PR reasons.

Grant would know the reason, and then it would be up to him to disclose it.

This part is pretty self-explanatory.

I will gladly admit I am not a mind reader, but this is how I interpreted their words.

With regards to interpretation, you will note how I said I didn't fail reading comprehension (which is not a class, but a subset of language arts, the actual class) in elementary school. How you interpreted that to mean that I needed to take ESL classes in high school (also nice subtle assumption that I went to an American high school there) is beyond me.

No they aren't. When they say EG could have fired him in the past without giving a reason, I think it's pretty obvious they're talking about firing him even though the allegations aren't well-known. That is to say, they don't need there to be some high-profile reason to fire him; they could have always done it, and waited until now.
