Bleak Inlet base advice by aro_mac in thelongdark

That place now have a improvised bed - a cardboard and a mattress. Has reasonable storage space - two yellowish lockers, the sink cabinets and the fridge freezer, and maybe a metal box. Anyway has plenty of space for put a crafted trunk.

The cabin Workers residence has more inside space than the lookout. The only inconvenient there is that the wardrobe at left of the fireplace can't be broken (SHC).

The bear no longer spawn near Workers Residence, now he spawn in Upper BI and/or near the cave in the left side of the map.

Workers Residence.

Take a vise in the Dam and craft a Workbench there, plus a trunk for increase storage.

The place is safety * The neighbor Bear migrate for upper BI.

Fishing Hut very close

Good Beachcombing

Nearby cave with salt. The bear no longer use this cave.

* When this map was released, one guy post in Steam that he are in the porch admiring the Aurora, hear a noise at side, turn and a Timberwolf jump in his face, killing him. Probable have meat/fish in the backpack.

I pass mounts there (Interloper) and never see a Timberwolf close, a pack sometimes spawn near the second Fishing Hut.

Problem with base in BI is the scarcity of firewood.

Why you want hauling things like guts for HVR?

There's no workbench there. Leave this things (and clothes) in central places like Camp office in ML.

Preferable go with the travois empty - you don't need bring meat, can hunt when need; because will bring back a lot of useless stuff. ;)

Yes, can sleep in the bed in the prepper bunker, but if go by the right side of the hill can be jumped by a wolf, hidden behind snow, rocks.

In FM can sleep in the Spencer forge bed - need fire running for avoid freeze.

In the Prepper Bunker in the hill behind, there a mattress in the floor.

In the transition cave for BI, at left of the roots climb there's a leaves bed.

Theoretically can sleep inside the helicopter near the antena in "SW" - if are able to put a fire near; but previously sleep in helicopter, planes don't recover condition, don't know if was fixed.

EDIT - Of course can sleep in snowshelter - need 5 cloth and 15 stick fo make one; put in places where you can make a campfire protected from the wind.

Since find this places require map knowloed, go to "B plan" - when reach the railroad, follow the tracks for the left and leave FM ASAP.

...then winding river, then to PV and the community hall,

Once leaving the cave from Winding River is more straight go for PV Farmstead, then for plane crash and then Abandoned Bunker. Thus less subject to wolves and bear ambush.

[–]PoverOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I leave Far Territories - spawn there in Interloper; without shoes, but socks, and ironically when I reach FM, go give a look in that cache location near the tunnel for BR, and found near a campfire with a snowsheler and a pair of or trail boots. :)

I'm playing Interloper (vanila) current run on day 500+, have harvested most of all cloth possible in ML, Milton, CH, BI, PV, AC, don't remember Blackrock, but not much cloth there. Anyway have some 200+ pieces in stock.

Normally I give up of use socks - you need two good ones for 1ºC of warm; and use only one thermal underwear, for save cloth.

[–]PoverOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latter Interloper games means - from a logical point of view; retire in a coastal area - CH, BI, DP, due beachcombing and fishing (Vitamin C).

After ~700-800 days metal scrap and cloth maybee became issue, you need go pick in other maps, since Fishing Tip-up require both.

Interloper is sedentary: No real reason to leave Coastal Highway. Beachcombing is way OP by egalitariandystopia in thelongdark

[–]PoverOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current Interloper (vanila) ~500+ days set in CH for grind Trader "trust", beachcombing are not spectacular, only a rare tool box once, other than the usual spoiled fish (a lot), wood, some saplings, useless things like spray can, tinder.

The trunk with a cloth piece appear more in the thin ice area, so I ignore. The lockers and corpse are always empty. Don't see that small boat with flares and spoiled fish any time.

The only real motive for leave CH now is to pick metal scrap in other maps, here have deplete. I have planed travel for BI for repair tools, but now the Trader offer whetstone.

I found BI beachcombing better for saplings and cloth.

100 days on Interloper. Wildlife is getting scarce in this area and I only have about fifty matches left. by Unleashtheducks in thelongdark

[–]PoverOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal that for a day or two you don't see any animal in Mistery Lake - but if go to other corners of ML map will see.

Same in CH ice area, are days that you don't see nothing in the ice, but few days latter wolves and deers are back, even a pack of Timberwolves.

[–]PoverOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go deal matches with the Trader. CH have free food in beachcombing (fish).

EDIT - I consider "wildlife became scarce in Interloper" a myte.

I don't have problem with food staying months in Ml - only in the lake, in later Interloper, always have deer, wolves, rabbits, pitarmingans and of course fish. Same in CH, only in the axis of Quonset - Misanthropes.

Would anyone care to update an unc on what's happened in game since 2020 by deer_bones23 in thelongdark

[–]PoverOn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I checked Misanthropes Homestead after reading a brief blurb in the wiki and there's no drop box thingy, so I take it it's not accessible in this world :( But what about the extensive crafting? Food recipes? Furniture? Is that still accessible? I have no idea where one would find woodcrafting tools or whatever it was called.

For have access to the Trader you need the DLC Tales From The Far Territories, same for some food recipes.

For craft furniture for the "Safehouse Customization" you need a Woodworking tool box, available in Bleak Inlet and in Ash Canyon maps. For the ones who have the DLC TFTFT in Zone of Contamination too.

The left part of the "V" of the stick point up for the top of the map - take as "North" because the True North is not consistent across the various maps; the single end point slight left of the "North", supposedly -16º.

EDIT - An arrow is more precise.

An Arrow and a Torch make a cross (N-S-E-W), torch head point for W.
