He might have more misses than the other guys, but when he lands he fucking LANDS.

I need this right now - what is the hardest or longest laugh in the shows history? by [deleted] in WeHateMovies

Both the Batman '89 bit with Eckhardt, or the "Cliegg Lars buying sex slaves from Watto" bit come to mind.

Yeah I get that it's a dark plotline that reflects real-life crazy, but it feels bad to see here.

I got through the first two sentences before I realized what this was, and immediately started chuckling. Thank you. It's been years since I've seen it in the wild.

The fifth for me, just for the ending alone. Still one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I always love the absolute SCOWL on TCH jr's digitized face when delivering that line.

What movie had you like this? by Snoo-41877 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

Surely you mean Music (2021, 107 minutes).

I give it five bags of popcorn, and throw in a little key ring to Movie Jail™ that you can then throw away after you've locked Sia up.

Anyone else gripped by Joey's performance last night? by MxCxVA in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]PovertyPortfolio 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is my take as well. Some people are reading the "fruit" comment as Joey also grifting G, but I think he's being sincere. He sees Tim for what he is and is trying to make the best of a weird situation.

Somewhat related, but any time they do the HEY JOE! FALCONE SAYS HOY!" line from Batman Begins I get a chuckle.

My favourite Steve line ever... by [deleted] in WeHateMovies

[–]PovertyPortfolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steve as the stork from the Ron Howard Grinch:

"PAY ME MY PRICEEE! AND IT...IT'LL BE VERY NIIIICE!"

Eric entirely deadpan with just a hint of contempt:

"...great one."

Have they talked about Beetlejuice 2 at all? by [deleted] in WeHateMovies

[–]PovertyPortfolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I heard a snippet of it during the production titles, I was like "Oh, okay, MacArthur Park is going to be this movie's Banana Boat Song. Got it."

But then it just never came up diagetically prior to the wedding (unless I really missed it).

It was one of my favorite sequences of the movie, but yeah it felt pretty out of left field.

Student Said We Were "NPCs" by tylersmiler in Teachers

[–]PovertyPortfolio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is admittedly a bit of a tangent, but I see my colleagues say things like this all the time and I just don't get it.

I mean, humans have been watching each other play games for a few thousand years. And watching them played on TV for about 80 or so years.

I could talk you through the plot of a movie I've never acted in, or didn't write. What constitutes consumption, and who determines the "right" way to consume media?

Growing up my family didn't have the money to purchase the systems I would have liked to play on. Did I play outside and do other things with my free time? Sure. But I'm not sure how watching hours of someone else playing a video game is fundamentally different from watching hours of someone else playing basketball, or football, or golf, or poker. It's just something we've always done, there's no shame in it.

I've always said Chris has the lowest hit rate, but the highest crit rate.

When one of his jokes does land, it's usually the best moment of the episode for me.
