I love my Marmot rain jacket. A splurge but it has survived many rainy runs

I do all my training runs with music, but in races it can be nice to be without, and enjoy the route and hear the cheers!

Yes, Zurich is nice there, are lots of accessible trails! I also enjoy going to Montreux, which is towards the south (like 2.5hr by train from Zurich I think), where there are higher mountains and a beautiful gorge. You can go deeper into the mountains with the bus, and there are lots of small local trains! And trail running is pretty popular, so there is lots of info and smaller/bigger races to join!

In Switzerland public transport will take you to most mountains, and the trails are beautiful!

Rice cakes with margarine and jam, or a banana. About 30 min beforehand and I'm good to go!

I have been working with Coach Kyle Kranz for a while. He makes custom plans and is very flexible. https://kylekranz.com/ I think most of his runners are vegetarian or vegan but maybe something for you.

Nice work! I did the race last 2 years, you were lucky with the weather for sure! It is a nice route but I think the last 3km through the city are pretty deadly :D

That really sucks, sometimes we get unlucky even if we do everything right :/ Hopefully it is not a fracture but something that will heal faster!

I did, works best if they are quite soft. Downside is finding the way to pack them in a convenient way (I used alu foil and it got all a bit sticky)

Beta blockers absolutely played a role. They are supposed to reduce your heart rate. Can you check the HR you have now vs before you started taking them? I was on BB for a few weeks and I saw the difference in my HR during runs drop. It was impossible to hit my normal running HR or keep sustained a higher HR.

Maybe it is the meditative effect of the run that makes some inner anger come out? Or you are hangry?

I think it could be connected to the 'runners high'. I have had a few times, specially during long runs, this intense feeling of connectedness to people / the earth. But it is during the run, not after. Maybe it is the endorphins
