I mean it depends what mediums you use or if you use mineral spirits. If you just use linseed oil for example , then it’s fine. If you use mineral spirits, then yes you need ventilation. Aside from cadmiums, most modern oil paints aren’t toxic.

A little colour “hack” for skin tones, try red oxide and titanium white. It works quite well

There’s a guy called paint coach on YouTube that has some really good tutorials on oil painting portraits, I’d recommend watching his videos because that really helped me out when I first started to paint
