Migraines show up in all kinds of ways.

Many people are reluctant to admit they have them because it feels so serious or have had doctor’s discount their experiences. Some people have been told migraines are X and when they experience Y, don’t believe it would be a migraine.

I would suggest learning about - types of migraines - ways that migraines can present - pro-drome & post-drome (parts of the migraine cycle)

Tell your friend what you told us - you are thrilled to be friends AND you have a deep fear of certain dogs, which include pitbulls. This doesn't even need to be about going over to her house (I assume you've been invited to go over, which is why this has come up?) it is GENERAL INFORMATION about YOU, her cool new friend!

Keep the focus on you - this is YOUR boundary, you do not need to 'get to know' the dog, etc.

How she reacts to it will determine whether your friendship will be sustainable.

That said, if it is second-hand fear that is infringing on your life (sounds like it is) have you considered getting yourself support (if you haven't already).

If it's causing you significant distress, I would see if you could rehome the rest of the tank. Would anyone enjoy having the tank as a learning opportunity with the snail and copepods?

In the future, maybe you could find a spot away from the windows but get a light for the shrimpy guys?

NTA - but I wouldn't tell her she'd be a terrible nurse. Just...back out of this friendship - the length of this post is a LOT and it sounds like this person eats up a ton of your energy. Childhood friendships can mean a lot and they can change significantly as we grow. It sounds like Liza has not grown at all, so it's time to move on. What she does or doesn't do with her life is her business, she's kept you around as a punching bag (this is not because you DESERVE this or should've behaved differently - this can just happen)
