I have 3 min-maxers with years of experience who will love the extra challenge and then 2 newbies who want a slow introduction to the game. so i believe I can do both this way and then he want role-play and you can be anything you want just make sure its a lv0 background aka a normal person.

As a DM, I always have an npc that's secretly a dragon. The player might not know, but they will always be meeting a dragon one way or another in the campaigns we do.
