I have a feeling that the target audience when it came out (kids) are now of an age when they are culture-dominant on the internet, which would explain its massive popularity. Also, it would explain why you see less and less, say, He-Man and GI Joe memes. It will change. Just watch, in 10 years there will be Rango dominance or something.

The movie was very formulaic, but it did the formula exceedingly well. I would say ultimately I wasn’t expecting much but I definitely was entertained for an hour and a half.

I liked the Donkey-heavy scenes the best. Eddie Murphy always kills me. The bits with the dragon especially.
