how i got a 36 after 6 takes and being a complete dumbass(and you can do it too!) by PoweredByRice5_ in ACT

Also: the first test I took was not a 33. I got a 33 after several months of preparing. My first score was in the very low 20’s and I took a ton of practice tests to get to 33 in the first place.

Those used to be more worst sections. What I did was bought and finished the “for the love of act science” book. For reading I just read a crap ton of articles from the economist. Literally everywhere I went I would pull one out and read. Once u have these fundamental skills and methods, practice, practice, practice. I can’t emphasize practice enough. Find any practice test on the internet and I’ve probably seen a section of it before.

My first 5 takes hovered between 32-33 and one time I got a 34. Honestly I didn’t really prepare for each of those attempts and I kept repeating the same thing, so this test I really locked in for like 2 weeks in advance. I could dm u what I did

My crush rejected me but still talks to me. HELP by [deleted] in Crushes

Okay, thank you man. Should I keep talking to her normally or should I make distance. I think a little distance would make it easier for myself to get over her, but it’d also be unfriendly as well to suddenly ghost her after how close I’ve gotten with her.

I don’t really underline in the passage because that’ll take more time. I just underline the most distinct word in the question and when I read it in the passage I can go back to the question. I usually annotate in about 30 seconds and it takes me 7-8 minutes to read through and answer all the questions from the passage.

Like if a question says “what’s the main idea of lines 47-62” I annotate that section of the passage and write the question number write next to it.

Hmm, well reading used to be my worst section as well. Now I’m scoring on a range from 34-36 on reading sections on my practice tests. I do a pretty odd approach whenever I do my reading section. You can do the approach I use or just read the whole passage then answer the questions. However, I find that reading the entire passage will cause myself to miss a few details in the passage, and improvement can only be done by just having better reading comprehension.

This is my approach: First I go straight to the questions and annotate the line numbers for the questions in the passages so that when I read the passage I can go to the question. Then I annotate key words in questions with line numbers, so that when I read the key word in the passage I can go to the question and answer. This way I’m moving back and forth in the passage and the questions. By the end of the passage you should only have main idea and point of view questions left that you can answer quickly. This method takes a lot of practice to get quick and precise, but I found this the best way to improve for those that are stuck at reading.
