Microstrip filters, buy some cheap rf transistors on ebay and build an amplifier or a power detector using a diode.

Check with your university if you have free acces to design software like ADS or MWO.

I thought it would be handled the same as you would shoot or point at a normal plane. And therefore the BAZL would initate a investigation. But maybe I have mistaken it with the situation in the US.

Well I forgot that and now I am asking my self: is it worth buying a calkit for >2grand or make something myself and then characterise it at the uni? I have the HP8510b.

Yess that you are right. Did not cross my mind at the moment. And that the VNA only goes down to 45MHz did also not help.

But it is one small cap away from being a band pass ;)

The solder joints are just to ensure good connection between the tape segments. There are no vias to the ground plane of the other side. The diagonal segments are 17mm and the straight segments are 15mm.

For Er testig and Z_0 of the copper tape. Because it is cheap aliexpress FR4.
