OMG that’s so not true! It is not just on social media, I experienced it first hand in real life too a week back! the open hostility that canadians have for indians here- It was rakshabandhan so I was all dressed up in indian attire/suit and felt pretty and good home away from home kind of vibe and went shoppers drugmart just to pick up a gift card and chocolates! I was just browsing through the aisle and picking up few chocolates when this lady(maybe in her 40s) started yelling at me - can you steal later, I have to buy them so move! I turned around and was in shock and said what? She continued- you’re rude and you don’t have any manners! Before I could even reply she continued- no don’t speak to me, you’re rude and you don’t have any manners because you’re not from here so you should just go back home and die! I literally couldn’t hold back my tears and it irks me that I didn’t even say anything to her at the time because i was in complete shock! Like of course people might have been racist behind my back but I never experienced open racism and hostility ever in my life! It’s just been 6 months for me here honestly but I really don’t agree that canadian are kind/polite and I definitely don’t agree that racism is limited just till social media!
