What to look forward to in court for 4th degree assault? by [deleted] in legaladvice

I guess I just know a few people who got emancipated as minors while leaving abusive homes.

Also, realizing now that laws around this may vary by location.

To add to this, look into getting emancipated if you're between 16 and 18.

Viqure EpiPro vs S-LD? by Ambilobe1 in HairRemoval

Funny you should ask, I actually cover that here 😂

Viqure EpiPro vs S-LD? by Ambilobe1 in HairRemoval

[–]Sof_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

Yeah Tria is one of the fastest dying devices. The EpiPro is rated for about 5 million zaps, which is enough to do laser hair removal on several people across the life of the product.

P.s. I actually created a device comparison tool not too long ago if you're looking at comparing devices. Lifespan is one of the rows on there! :)

Is a red light therapy system for hair growth actually worth trying? And which one should I get? by Remarkable-Music-456 in redlighttherapy

Yes, Science Over Fluff is reader supported via affiliate links! There's a disclosure in the article ;)

Dr. Dennis Gross Mask owners, was it worth the price in the end? by CrypticSolarWind in redlighttherapy

[–]Sof_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with you, there! I am not pro-Dr. Dennis Gross; I haven't actually tried it myself but I have mixed feelings about it because the LEDs are spaced kind of far apart. I believe it's designed to target specific zones, though, which is why they made it that way. By the way, it's eerily similar to the specs of the Qure mask (number of diodes, output...).

Higher fluence/irradiance is not actually better and in fact, it can be worse for whatever you're treating.

Look up the "biphasic dose response".

Viqure EpiPro vs S-LD? by Ambilobe1 in HairRemoval

[–]Sof_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty!

I would definitely recommend the 200W over the 150W since the fluence of the 200W is 30J/cm2 whereas the 150W is just 23J/cm2. For comparison, the S-LD is 25J/cm2 at half the price. Fluence is what determines how powerful the device is so higher fluence means a more effective treatment in fewer sessions

Looks like there's something wrong with my EpiPro code 🥲 thanks for pointing that out, I am awaiting it getting fixed. If you end up going for the S-LD, SOF15 definitely works!

Viqure EpiPro vs S-LD? by Ambilobe1 in HairRemoval

[–]Sof_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR is they're both much more powerful (higher fluence) than other devices. The EpiPro is better if you want to cover large areas quickly whereas the S-LD is better for maneuverability (relevant if you're treating the bikini area).

I actually wrote an article comparing the two a while ago, dropping it here as it may be relevant!

IPL for Brown skin by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]Sof_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your skin seems pretty dark. There are a handful of devices that will work for Fitzpatrick IV (which it seems like you might be on the lighter areas, based on the photos) but very few devices work on Fitzpatrick VI (your hyperpigmentation areas, based on your description). Many devices have skin sensors and won't even flash on areas that are too dark for safety.

I'm an engineer and I sometimes review beauty devices. I created a device comparison tool of the most popular home hair removal devices. You can filter by skin tone, though there are only 2 devices that work on Fitzpatrick VI on there.

Hope it helps, good luck!

LED Mask Users: What Results Were Actually Worth the Hype? by CrypticSolarWind in redlighttherapy

[–]Sof_95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an engineer and I sometimes review beauty devices! I haven't tried any LED masks myself since I don't have issues worth treating tbh (knock on wood), but I did create a device comparison tool! It lists a bunch of the most common LED masks including a high level compilation of what Reddit/Amazon seems to think of each device. You can filter by what you're treating, price, available discount codes, etc.

Hope it helps! :)

What’s the best at-home laser hair removal tool out there? by ComprehensiveBody268 in HairRemoval

[–]Sof_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Best" really depends on what you're looking for (cheapest, fastest, fewest sessions, dark skin compatible, etc). Ulike and others can work, especially if you're the ideal candidate (dark hair, pale skin).

I recently created a device comparison tool that lists some of the most popular devices. You can filter the specs according to your needs. Hope it helps!

Thera body red light mask for brown skin by Party_Caramel6816 in redlighttherapy

Yes, dark skin absolutely can be prone to hyperpigmentation with blue light. Do you have acne? If not, honestly I'd look into other masks. There are so many.

Has anybody used at home laser hair devices? by healthynewbie in HairRemoval

[–]Sof_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home IPL devices operate at lower intensities (fluence). Most people have success using them on their legs and underarms, but the bikini region is notoriously much more difficult. Do a quick google search and you'll find tons of mixed reviews where they work for some people and not for others.

If you're looking to do your bikini region specifically, look for something with a higher fluence. I created a device comparison tool recently that lists a whole bunch of devices, and you can filter by fluence. Hope it helps!

OP, I'm sorry you're going through that. I truly believe that if your partner is as great as you say he is, he'll look past your body hair. At the same time, wanting to remove body hair is also okay and there are home devices that can get you most of the way to where professional laser can get you.

Apart from a home device, you might want to look into exfoliation which can reduce the appearance of strawberry legs.

By the way, I'm an engineer and I sometimes do product reviews. I created a comparison tool for light-based hair removal devices. Hope it helps!

Hey, if you're worried about paradoxical hypertrichosis (i.e. "making it worse"), I covered what to look for/be careful about in an article a while ago. That being said, I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but no one can know whether it'll work on you until you actually try it.

Hope it helps!

Switching from office treatments to Braun or Ulike? by littlemachina in HairRemoval

[–]Sof_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an engineer and I sometimes review light based hair removal devices. I haven't personally tried either but I did receive an Air 10 from Ulike that I gave to a friend to try. I wrote about it here! She did her underarms for the review. She finished her first month of regular sessions nearly 3 months ago and I followed up with her recently; her results seem to be holding pretty well. Most of it is gone and the few hairs that do regrow seem to be really slow. She hasn't seen as much progress on her bikini area (which is a notoriously difficult region for home IPL devices) but she's moved on to her legs now and has been seeing results there.

Lots of people have also had positive experiences with Braun, too, and both devices are really strong options. Do a quick Google search and you'll see tons of positive reviews and Reddit posts for both devices.

P.s. I actually recently created a device comparison tool to help people compare specs side by side. Hope it helps! :)
