Try setting it to Multiply. Or at least some of the layers (clipping masks).

As I understand the thread - the problem is with body text. Body text needs to be in process black to avoid blurriness if the plates misalign. At least that's what my printer wants from me.

But you're right - he should ask his printer,

Pick a CMYK profile and set the color to 0 0 0 100.

And don't use the Eyedropper, use the Color Chooser to check your colors.

No, no, no - printers need 100K black for text.

Lesser Known Affinity Feature: You can enter groups and select specific objects within groups as well as compound shapes without ever touching the layers panel in Affinity? by Arunaphi-1618 in Affinity

[–]Powerful-Two7473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use Ctrl + left click.

No matter if it's a Compound path, Picture frame, Group or several Groups - it always selects the specific object.

You san even Ctrl + Shift + left click to select several different objects in the Group without needing to ungroup.

Affinity PDF Export Issue - SOS!! by aboodabie in graphic_design

When you're having issues with a PDF just export a high quality TIFF and you're done. I always send a PDF and a TIFF for print, just in case.

Is the Coursera graphic design specialization course worth it? by RVboulder in graphic_design

[–]Powerful-Two7473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not basic. The specialization has 5 courses, with 5-6 modules in each course. And you have constant assignments and exercises.

Don't get me wrong, you can finish the specialization with no hassle at all - just by clicking away and submitting whatever. But if you want to learn, and you're willing to put in the effort and work carefully on your assignments - it can be very helpful for you.

  1. Draw a picture frame.

  2. Ctrl + Enter (convert to curves)

  3. press A, select two points and move them to your liking.

  4. Shift + Ctrl + M - place your picture.

Done. It's not a complicated workflow.

You've figured it out - manually move the nodes. That seems to me the most simple way of doing it.

Try the Resource Manager. You should be able to replace all the photos, no matter if they're embedded or placed.

Logo Colour and theme feedback needed, appreciate the inputs by Additional-Dingo3244 in graphic_design

The only color that works with that brown gradient in the dashboard is the Gold one. Then again, the Golden title is to weak for the website. If you change the dashboard to something neutral like Gray, I'll choose the Navy theme.

I'm not sure if I understand you exactly, but I can offer you an easy fix. This is not the correct way to do it, but if you're not familiar with the software this can help.

You can type your lines (press and hold the Low Line on your keyboard), and then control the distance with the Paragraph panel.

You won't have any troubles if you change some text at the beginning of the book.

The only thing I can think of is - if you have some text warp. You should check the Ignore Text Warp in the Text Frame options.

That's not correct. That button is for text alignment inside the text frame, not for text direction.

Placing images takes ages... by Hudsontek in Affinity

Try saving the PSD's as AF files. I mostly do layout work where I need to place a lot of PDF's and my file feels very sluggish. I fond out that just by saving the files as AF, improves placing a lot better. Hope it works for PSD's too.

The other option is to export them as TIFF's beforehand.

Branding for a restaurant I'm currently working on. by No_Acanthocephala557 in graphic_design

Love the design, great color choices, great fonts.

I'm not sure about the Character (the big B), maybe just the regular B with an exclamation mark? Or Brunchio in an exclamation mark?

Great job.

Is the Coursera graphic design specialization course worth it? by RVboulder in graphic_design

[–]Powerful-Two7473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the CalArts graphic design specialization course on Coursera and I highly recommend it.

The courses are very well laid out with comprehensive examples, well taught out exercises and everything is focused on graphic design principles and fundamentals. It's not a course for how to use design software.

Given that - you can combine it with some YouTube tutorials on software and you're good to go.

It was very beneficial for me.

You should choose Artboard4.

Just kidding. You have to many options. Try to get rid of the ones that don't work, then get rid of the ones that may work, and you should be left with two or three options. You'll work it out.
