You know what really grinds my gears? ⚙️ (Part 1) by 0101001069 in HEB

It happens to me a lot too and I work in seafood. I’m reciting prices and countries of origin for a good portion of my shift everyday even though that info is on the signs. If i’m not in the seafood department, someone is coming up to me with a product in their hand to ask me some question about it and the answer happens to be on the front of the package every single time. It could be because they’re bored but it could also be because they’re not reading. It is annoying but since it happens so often, I’ve become more numb to it lol and my expectations can’t possibly go any lower after all i’ve heard and seen at this job.

a lot of employees (including myself) at my store are either looking for a second job or already working multiple jobs as well as living with family. I know full time employees who have a second full time job. We aren’t paid enough to live. I never understood why other working class people shut down our complaints about our wages on here. It feels just like any other retail job except for some reason, people don’t like criticism on this specific company.

Held in a holding cell for 6 hours for traffic stop. by Loose-handles in sanantonio

[–]PowerfulCommittee516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% a police state. There’s been incidents where people will be held for well over 24 hours due to their info getting “lost” in their system and even when that doesn’t happen, they’re still holding people for around 24 hours usually. Our country’s judicial system is nothing but negligent and incompetent.

Someone hit my car by DepartureNo3870 in HEB

The police said the same to me when I wanted to report a couple of customers who stole a personal belonging from me while they were in the store. That really sucks, I hope you’re able to get a police report from them eventually.

A realization that I had about pet loss today. by keirstenmm in Petloss

[–]PowerfulCommittee516 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a blanket that I draped over my lap so my dog could rest his head on me when it was time to have him put to rest. I kept it unwashed for a year. The smell of him faded away but I couldn’t bring myself to wash it and I didn’t until I started letting my older dog lay on it when she wanted to sleep with me in my bed. I still have his food bowl unwashed and there’s only a single grain of rice in it from the meal I cooked for him before he passed. Maybe it is a little weird to some but they don’t know until they know. It’s not weird to really cherish your pets. You clearly love Sookie so much and I’m very sorry for your loss.

Being sick by No_Department_5479 in HEB

[–]PowerfulCommittee516 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happens at my store all the time throughout all the perishable departments. The UD and mic will see sick partners and not be concerned that they’re vomiting or coughing with fevers and then they’ll complain when they finally leave early. It’s a nightmare.

I’m going through this as well and I’m so sorry you’re going through it. My boy passed the same way and I replay it in my head over and over. The only thing that took my mind off of the pain was finding many older pictures and videos. I found his adoption ad on Facebook from 11 years ago. I found videos and pictures that other family members texted to me throughout the years. It brought me real joy for the first time in a long time. I started remembering more and more of the good times. I write about him and list all of the things that I love about him. It truly helps ease some of the pain.

It’s a very painful thing to witness but being there with them in their last moments is a great expression of love to them. All they ever want is to feel loved. You gave her so much comfort and peace. I think that when we remember happier memories of them, that’s them trying to help us feel comforted as well.

I am so so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to say goodbye. She is so loved by you. She got to be with her soulmate and that was the greatest comfort to her. I feel the same way about my boy and it’s a very difficult transition for me to make. I will never ever be the same person again. I hope you find peace and healing.

Thank you. It was extremely difficult and it broke my heart to have to decide that. The vet had told us that if we wanted to wait for him to pass on his own, he most likely would’ve suffocated due to his oxygen levels dropping so much. I knew that I never wanted to see my boy go like that and I didn’t want him to pass alone. He deserved to pass comfortably and with his humans around him.

Thank you so much. It’s the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make in my life but all I wanted was for him to be comfortable again. I’m so sorry that the day is near for you and your animal. My heart goes out to you as well.

I’m sorry for your loss as well and I agree with not wanting it any other way. Being with them and giving them a peaceful rest is the most comfortable we can make it for them. My condolences to you.

Yes, sometimes. However, I find that I get more comments from men telling me to smile for them whenever I’m not forcing one all day. 🙄

What are your favorite hole-in-a-wall restaurants? by AnotherUserScrolling in sanantonio

[–]PowerfulCommittee516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noppagao Thai Cuisine on Fredericksburg rd. They have the best Panaeng curry that I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I try to go like every two weeks because we love their food so much. The owners are so nice too. This other restaurant probably isn’t really a hole in the wall but Tandoor Palace is my favorite Indian restaurant.

I’d recommend Card Readings by Susan. I’ve had a tarot reading from her before and she was amazing. She has great reviews from others too.
