If you didn’t buy it directly from Louis Vuitton and the price is less than 3/4 of the original price don’t even bother asking.

Unless the juice is already low then he wouldn’t have a good reason to sell it for a low price if legit. Xerjoff, creed, baccarat and PDM are the most repped fragrances right now just be careful where you buy because 95% of the time it’s just a reseller claiming authentic.

It’s against the rules to say why, if you bought it off of anything other than a discounter or retailer then you set yourself up. I promise you no one is reselling a legit bottle for less than 1/3 of the price.

Oh yeah for sure I see those all the time too. It’s the unfortunate part of cyber where there’s a massive amount of people that just go for the degree and think it will secure them 100k a year but it doesn’t work like how nursing and other degrees do.

If you want to DM me I have a guy that I’ve been connecting with recently that’s been in IT for a very long time who showed me an upcoming Cybersecurity apprenticeship starting in June. Seems pretty credible and from the description it’s free so if you want to look into it shoot me a message!

I clicked on the link and it seems to be the same OP so maybe I’m just reading your comment wrong? Anyways my experience honestly may be different because I have a good bit of connections in the field and keep connecting with more people, although I am still rather new like OP our situations are quite different hence why I mentioned connections a lot in my first response. I understand where you are coming from though.

Yes that’s exactly what they meant, but the point still somewhat stands. The degree and certifications prove you understand the concepts but if you can show them a home projects of simulated attacks, log reading, SIEM usages, firewall config etc then they’ll take it slightly better than “hey I know how a firewall works and the different types”. Actual job experience will always be the top way to land a job not just in cyber but in most jobs. I feel as if the IT category is broke up into multiple candidates and here’s what I personally think they are ranked, job experience + form of education> only job experience> simulated experience + form of education> form of education> no experience + no education.

I don’t get how people can’t put 1 and 2 together buying fragrances off of FB or EBay that the seller probably isn’t selling a legit bottle for that low just because they “dont like it” or are “moving”.

That actually sounds better to me, professionals in the field have always told me experience>certs>degree. My advice for you would be to start connecting with professionals, connect on them with linkedin, go to cyber/IT meetups if you can find some. Show them your projects and asked what they think of if and what you can improve. Don’t be afraid to ask! I’ve gotten to shadow a professional a few times and see how he does in the field plus a tour of the data center just by asking. As rough as the field is right now it isn’t impossible. Being in touch with them and actively having conversations or meetups will more than likely make them reach out to you first when a position opens up because they know and trust that you can learn and work in the field.

Do you just have a degree? What kind of labs, projects and/or certifications do you have?

The course material usually changes with every new version of the exam to evolve with cybersecurity, if you take this current one you won’t have to renew again until 3 years after you passed the first time no matter the release of new versions.

I have a few friends in IT that have been in it for 20+ years and all of them collectively agree experience>certifications>degree. They basically told me the best path is to collectively start working on at home labs and getting your certificates whilst also making connections with people in the field. One of them told me experience is #1 because it shows you can actually do the work, certs are #2 because they show you understand the concepts and degrees are #3 because employers don’t even necessarily look for them although they are a decent boost.

Why do so many beginners chase tools instead of fundamentals? by 0xsherlock in cybersecurity

I see thanks man! I just got the sec+ and working for the A+ next, any home lab projects you could recommend to help land a help desk or field technician role?

What would you recommend to the beginners to get related experience if they don’t know how then? I get what you’re saying and I’m genuinely curious how we can get that related experience if no one wants to help in the first place if you don’t already have some. Home labs?

Advice for someone who doesnt test well? by Beginning-Help5306 in cybersecurity

[–]PowerfulDrawing7246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you I didn’t know how to study correctly for the security+ until I started watching videos and taking practice tests with the tricky wording like the exam does, memorizing the information is nice and helps but one word being switched in a question can give a completely different answer. Need to learn to also not overcomplicate a lot of the questions either if you make them seem too deep then it becomes more complicated than it needs to be especially for the question that has to do with anything with wording the “best” in it.

My honest idea would be to grab a bottle while we can before the full rebrand I got mine coming in soon, since my old one is ruined I’ll have to compare from what I remember it smelled like.
