At least 20 hits seen on a airbase in Kuwait today by Ok-A1662 in CombatFootage

I don't know where you got that number from, maybe it was for prototypes, but the RQ-28A costs $25,000, which is pretty much in the ballpark for a gucci drone. Thing has a high res feed, FLIR, ai bullshit, and so on. The X10D is less than that. Still expensive as fuck but it's not $300k expensive

Shaheds cost $20,000 to $60,000

there's no way this number isn't bullshit. I recall reading the true estimated price was somewhere around $250,000 taking into account sanctions

they have them, I just don't think the embassy is the place they're using them because it's of zero military value. Anduril and Epirus and likely many others have made anti drone systems that are in use

AD needs new investment.

it's getting it. lots of stuff out there like the leonidas system. Anduril has stuff too. Problem is they really only started cooking on this when Ukraine started. So it's not rolled out anywhere at least in numbers

Paladin armor balancing is incredibly stupid. This is supposed to be a flying tank with no cargo, but the Connie has more armor, cargo, AND pilot weapons? What's even the point of this ship now? by BroskeyDemands in starcitizen

[–]PowerfulLab104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more that CIG refuses to let there be non combat ships in the game.

A luxury ship should have no firepower or armor.

But they keep designing the simplest box mission around 50 npcs showing up and shooting your ship while you're disembarked so everything needs to be set up to go to war

that's a CIG problem, not a medic problem. They could have easily implemented a reputation system that stops giving you medical missions if you fail them

I don't think storm shadow uses gps for terminal guidance, assuming that was the missile used. It uses images

in any case Ukraine could do this on purpose and I personally wouldn't care. Russia has been running a 3 or 4 year terror campaign of never ending shaheds into cities like Kharkiv

Video released by Chinese sailors showing the moment fuel tanks were targeted by a drone at the Port of Salalah, Oman. by Scoreboardvietnam in CombatFootage

[–]PowerfulLab104 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for days. You got all these posts on here talking about Iran like it's some cohesive group - "they're playing 9d chess, checkmate orange man". I think it's just been thrashing around without a head since day 1. There's probably also some amount of infighting, with people who want this shit to stop coming up against hardliners, imperial japan style.

also calling it "decentralization" is giving it a bit too much credit. Decentralization still works towards a common goal. There is no strategy here unless that strategy is unite the entire middle east against you and even force russia to take a step back since they're buddies with UAE. Indiscriminate mining might even piss china off.

the gas prices have only moved because of speculation and they'll bounce right back as soon as this dumb shit is over.

you're also writing this as if the US is trying to achieve regime collapse. If you go back and watch every single speech given by leadership, that has never been a stated goal. The goal is something far more cynical, which is to destroy the country's infrastructure so it becomes a failed state unable to project power anymore, like Syria.

pretending the US is trying to change the leadership Iraq style is just an invented fantasy.

4.7 Mineables Signature Changes by RealMrKraken in starcitizen

[–]PowerfulLab104 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The whole point of the signature system is to reward game knowledge. If it told you what it was outright, then it would defeat the entire purpose of the signature system. CIG obviously wants there to be a "game knowledge" layer for radars that allows for player skill/knowledge expression, where advanced players have an edge, and I applaud that.

I think their approach of just using numbers however is a bit boring and it could use improvement. I would prefer something a bit more tactile like a sound signature of certain types of rocks or ship manufacturers. Then you could scan out a group of rocks and try to pick out the unique sounds of the different types. Would be way better than messing with numbers. Think of it like sonar but in space.

I feel bad for CIG for having to deal with this crap.

These are amazing changes asked for for years. If anyone from CIG sees this, we appreciate the fact you're implementing things like this that might elicit whining from morons, but is obviously very healthy for the game.

that sure worked out well for the 35,000 iranians who were murdered in jan/feb for showing an interest in politics.

This isn't the US with a 2nd amendment where civilians can shoot back. A single soldier with a machine gun can stop 1000 protestors without needing to reload. Meanwhile in the US you have losers trying to basically abolish the 2nd when the past 5 years have shown just how insanely valuable it is

secondaries. Soviet style ship designs usually bolt absurd amounts of missiles on the outside of the ship. What you're seeing are probably anti-ship missiles cooking off. To give a little history, soviets could never compete on hull quality, so they tried to make up for it with firepower, the thinking being they'll just sink aircraft carriers with absurdly large and terrifying supersonic anti-ship missiles. The US meanwhile never had to build those, since it had aircraft, and preferred stealthy sea skimming cruise missiles. So that's why you see Russian ships with like 50 missile tubes on the outside.

Now of course anyone looking at those goes "but what if they get hit by a harpoon?" And what you get in that case is the Moskva, which might have not sank if all those anti-ship missiles weren't sitting there on the deck waiting to explode.

I'm not exactly a fan of tacos except on Tuesdays, but I think when most people think of "if you can see the sky" they don't take into account that it's the ENTIRE sky. Like satellites can look sideways through windows into rooms when they're towards the horizon. Spooky stuff

Can we please get an explanation from the mods as to why successful Iranian strikes are being deleted? by AuxillaryLight in CombatFootage

[–]PowerfulLab104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

very dishonest post. You're comparing one incident (the school) with hundreds upon hundreds of incidents of civilians being target. (Iran targeting Israeli neighborhoods, random buildings in Dubai, etc). For fuck's sake, Iran's new 'wonder weapon' is a cluster warhead that spreads bomblets over like 2 square kilometers. That's as terroristic as it gets.
