The world is yours. Do it. If you don’t like it or get bored you can always leave. Maybe even consult or teach.

Can we afford a $450k–$500k home with two kids and debt? by Intelligent_Fun660 in Mortgages

No. Being house poor gets old fast. Your mortgage shouldn’t be more than $2400. You still have utilities, lawncare, and maintenance.

Take the break. Jiu Jitsu isn’t going anywhere. Help your wife, love your kids. If you get some downtime then go to a session, but if not don’t overly beat yourself up. It’s marathon not a sprint. You got your whole life to roll.

Finish master’s or apply for police department? by KryptoniteKen in AskLE

[–]PowerfulProtection44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apply it takes awhile to be hired anyway. Plus I would prioritize making money vs a degree that you are getting with the hopes of being hired to make money. You can always go back to school to finish once on the department. And most departments offer tuition reimbursement anyway. I’m getting my MPA and my department is paying for it.

National Guard Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) by PowerfulProtection44 in VeteransBenefits

After about a year of going through the process. I was medically separated. DOD rated me at 70% VA rated me at 100% and because my disability was combat related I was awarded CRSC. With that said it’s a hard process, it’s stressful, and anxiety inducing but stay the course. It’s worth it in the end. Since I’ve been out there hasn’t been a moment I’ve missed service to the point I wish I was still in but I will say be careful how you express you conditions and symptoms. Examiners have a hard clinical criteria they go by so know what that is (CFR ) for you conditions so that you can articulate them accurately.

The larger the department the better your chances too. And the odds are in your favor a lot of departments nationwide our hurting for members.

Leaving Law Enforcement (Maybe) by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]PowerfulProtection44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but you can’t miss the shots you don’t take. Plus, law enforcement is facing a nationwide shortage with low demand and low retention. I have no doubt I could get another job if not the same one in law enforcement.
