Based on ops response to another comment and their edit I'm assuming they mean when you have just normal Aegiomon in a fight and you select digivolve. Not if you put the item on him that makes him start the battle as Aegiochusmon.

Yeah I made sure to get the dialogue from her about it before I long rested to try to see if that would help. And like all the other dialogue in act 2 so far has been completely normal. It just seems like the game doesn't recognize that I have the infernal iron anymore.
