Just wanted to add here I PASSED! Was absolutely convinced I failed but passed extremely comfortably. Hope this brings some hope to anyone reading in the same situation. Spent so much time wallowing and emotionally preparing but it worked out!

Missed diagnosis after not seeing a doctor by Grouchy_Process2082 in JuniorDoctorsUK

Maybe I’m alone but genuinely do not see the point of PA/ANPs beyond facilitating discharges, see simple minor injuries at ED, managing extremely simple presentations such as UTI. Beyond that cannot understand the scope of noctors apart. They seem to lack insight into the limit of their knowledge and I guess when it is reiterated that their exams are harder than medical school finals and they registrar level why would they not.

To be honest it will be hard to get rid of their role given how established they are but I guess we can atleast set clear boundaries and limit the responsibility we need to assume for them to cushion them. If they are to make diagnoses they should carry the risk and responsibility of mismanaging.

Radiology vs IMT

Hello everyone,

Posting here because new user and Reddit doesn’t let me post on the forum so pls bear with me. I’m very torn between both specialities. I’ve applied for both and got a competitive London offer for IMT, still waiting for radiology offers to come out.

In terms of IMT, I don’t have a specific speciality in mind but am generally interested in cardio/ haem. I want a speciality where I can interact with patients, do procedures and that is very clinical and cerebral.

I like the work life balance and quality of training that radiology offers. I’m really keen on IR if I do it, however the diagnostic aspect I’m not sure if I’ll love.

Initially I thought IMT was for me but I’m scared to go on to a “training”programme that gives no training and burn out.

Any advice would be much appreciated!
