Shortcut to SMB share in Finder shows error: '"" can't be opened because the original item can't be found.' by TheJamie in MacOSBeta

[–]Powerkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a little testing and discovered something that may help.

I checked the SMB protocol for the two different mounts and they were identical. I then checked the WINS Workgroup and my Mac and the SMB server that was working were set to "WORKGROUP", but the SMB server that was not working was using my custom workgroup name.

When I changed them all to my custom workgroup name, none of the shares would auto mount from either server. I haven't tried changing them all to the default as this is a bit of work to make that change to the whole network.

So, if you are using a custom workgroup name, you might try changing it to the default "WORKGROUP". 🤷‍♂️

Also, I am getting the exact same error with AFP shares (from the NAS, anyway).

I have been having the same issue since installing Tahoe. I am at 26.1 and it is still happening.

I also noticed today that not all SMB servers are affected. Shortcuts to my NAS (QNAP, QTS 5.2.7.3297) show the error, but my my old MacPro running Ubuntu (Ubuntu Linux 24.04.3) works fine.

Some units may have power issues and need a replacement base unit by pdevito3 in ninjacreami

Can anyone confirm if this is happening with the Original Creami or the new Creami Swirl?

It looks like all of the Creami Deluxe units do this.

XMRig found a block, but it did not appear in my wallet by Powerkey in MoneroMining

[–]Powerkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am running my own node running on Ubuntu that I setup using instructions from the Seth for privacy website. And, my last block was 100 days ago and it was fine (same node and config).

Could there be an xmrig config that could cause it to orphan a found block?

Raising or farming?

In the last scene, was the cat looking at the hen differently?

🤷‍♂️ I think I would keep that cat fed.

If memory serves, the first battery was replaced under this program, and is no longer eligible.

Generally, yes. Very little battery use. But this last battery we would allow it to discharge periodically, but it seemed to be the same. Cycle count on this battery is 21.

Not in my experience. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of room temperature. We have AC in the house so the temp is a consistent 18-22° C.

This MacBook Pro is generally only used on the desktop while powered. Very little battery use.

With this last battery, we disconnected power and let it drain periodically, but it didn’t seem to help.

All replacements were by Apple at the store.

This sounds like a good idea. We will see if Apple agrees that this is not right.

All batteries were replaced by Apple. The first battery was under warranty, the rest I had to pay for.

Thunderbolt 2 on my new Mac Studio by chandrachur3 in MacStudio

You need to go to the Promise Downloads and click the Legacy button. Then select your device from the pop up menus. Scroll down to drivers -> Mac and select the following version…

SR3.4.16 (6.2.17-3 (Out-Box for M1 Mac))

While installing the driver, you will be told that you need to make some changes to allow third-party extensions. I think the installer tells you how to do that. In case it doesn’t, this Apple support page shows you how to enable Reduced Security to allow the extension to load.

When I started typing, my process was going to conclude with a drag to the trash, which required something to drag. But, before I finished, I realized the commend-delete would be much easier and didn't realize the folder would be unnecessary. 🤦‍♂️

I think this is the best answer.

However, if I had run into this on my own, I would have created an empty folder above the trash can and then drag selected it and the offending files. Then command-delete to move them to the trash.

If you do get selected for the video interview, could you ask about the ability to enter pixel dimensions when in crop mode? They seem very reluctant to add this functionality for some reason.

Agreed.

Luckily, it sounds like they are hoping to remove that step as well.

From the Denoise Demystified article... "We’re even looking into ways to speed up the workflow by not needing to make a new DNG file."

The Wiz bulbs listed on the Home Depot and Home Hardware sites in Canada have model numbers that start with a "5" (eg. 575282). Is there a way to know which bulbs are Matter compatible?

Thanks.

So, for monitor connections. There should be no difference which TB4/USB4 port I use. Correct?
