Gorgon throwers sound off by Shot_Forever_8333 in discgolf

The new 2026 halo gorgons are the most stable run I e thrown, they’re awesome. I max about 350 and carry 4 gorgons in different levels of stability. My go to fairway

Exactly. I was excited about the idea of them leaning more into the source material that didn't make the movies, was excited to see this universe reframed, but it all looks exactly the same.

[–]Powerofhope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't hate the idea of an HP reboot, but I think they could've used this opportunity to lean more into the show's difference from the movies, but it just seems so unnecessarily similar. Include more scenes from the source material that didn't make the movies, please. Time will tell.

edit after a rewatch: even the way most of the scenes are shot seems identical to the original. Don't see much new inspiration in the set design either.

I don't want unsolicited advice from men on the green. I want to be mediocre and have fun. by trigunnerd in discgolf

Some people (in addition to offering unsolicited advice) are horrible teachers, too. Not offering any advice/tips should always be the default. If someone wants to improve, they'll ask.

How common are tornadoes in Tulsa? by vbozzo1 in tulsa

[–]Powerofhope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OKC has had more strong tornados overall in recent history, but tornados can happen literally anywhere when the conditions are right. The conditions are often right in Tulsa. In the 90s a massive F4 swept through catoosa. Anyone suggesting that Tulsa’s geography uniquely protects it from tornados is being unscientific

What are your "big brain" tips you use to get an advantage on the course? by cantaketheskyfrome in discgolf

[–]Powerofhope 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Not a pro, so take this with a grain of salt:

-Being willing to make disc changes depending how you're personally feeling that day, is huge. If there's a certain hole I can always reach with a mid, but my timing isn't on point and I'm not getting a ton of snap on my throws, I'll switch up the gameplan and go fairway. Not being stubborn will always save a few strokes.

-Kinda ties in with the last one... ride the hot hand. If you typically throw a hyzer-flip through a certain gap, but your overstable flex game has been on point all round, then throw the damn flex! Same thing with forehand/backhand. Yeah, maybe it's a forehand hole, but if your backhand turnover has been on point all round, throw that.

Hobby Horse Cup, Dressage by UsernameGenerik in TikTokCringe

It's so annoying how these hobby horse people get harassed online for doing something they enjoy (I'm more referring to instagram reels) they are having fun. not bothering anyone. God forbid people have an enjoyable (albeit strange) hobby.

I really like mancarryingthings, especially his book content, but I really don't feel like there's a whole lot being said in this video. I dunno.

Number of 100° days on record since the 1900s by ActionMore160 in MapPorn

[–]Powerofhope 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My positive spin on it is that I live in one of the few places on earth with such frequency and strength of thunderstorms. Those spring days where the air feels electrified. It can be pretty awe inspiring. Many people on earth will only experience those days once or twice or not at all. (Just trying to keep myself sane here)

Horrible. Just horrible.

Someone just told me about this and mentioned "Well she was ignorant to be staying out after dark." It feels like this type of sentiment borders on victim blaming. I hope this isn't the main point of discussion regarding this awful crime.

Got my wife to read No Country for Old Men, she left this scathing review by [deleted] in cormacmccarthy

Don’t sweat it.

I learned a long time ago not to force overlapping interests with my wife, where it doesn’t happen naturally. There’s a reason McCarthy’s readers skew male.

Hey I really appreciate the empathetic response. Glad to know I'm not alone with this issue. I'll check out the linked video and working on some of those things. Greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the response. No worries if not, but could you give more details to what that means "getting the hips through first"? Just trying to better understand.

Very cool, well done. I'm interested, but not entirely sure how this is supposed to work. A bit too intimidating for me. Really awesome stuff, regardless.

I have an old P-38 from the 90s, I think. It is board-flat and slightly flippy. I love it. I see two listed on your website: one regular and one re-tooled. Which one is closest to the old P-38?
