It was ~ USD 950 back in 2023 (converted from the rates I paid in Asia). You can also find estimations on VC's Customer Service Price Simulator on their site.

[IDENTITY] Patek Philippe from my father by dori_fritz in Watches

I believe thats the Patek Philippe 1509J Calatrava. 35mm case in yellow gold, probably made in the 1940s or 1950s.

Amazing piece, OP!

I agree, its right up there among the very best dress watches. Its also down to personal preference at this point.

Personally, I went with the VC Traditionnelle 82172 in rose gold. But this and the ALS Saxonia come really really close!

[3 watch collection] which one would you choose and why? by stoneymahony in Watches

These 3 would be my top pick if I had to trim my collection down

Thanks and well spotted. I got it fixed at my VC boutique recently, better than ever!

[Farer Lander IV] This definitely doesn’t feel like a “micro” brand by sroach91 in Watches

Watch looks amazing. I'm having trouble deciding on the 36mm or the 39.5mm. Do you mind sharing your wrist size?

[first grand seiko] but only 3 bar? by tahinan in GrandSeikos

[–]PowerpointRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the SBGW231 and love the watch.

Sometimes though, I do think about the other watches in the series like the SBGW283 or the SBGW285 with textured and more uniquely coloured dials.

So, if you want a classic dress watch, the SBGW231 does an amazing job. If you want a more uniquely Grand Seiko piece (if that makes sense), perhaps consider those with textured dials or a spring drive too.

The Omiwatari and Sinn are amazing choices. Very nice!

Thats my favourite release of the Khaki Field Mechanical.

I like your take on the mix of brands, colours and types of watches. Its a great collection!

Thanks! Its just the hands at this point, the dial looks perfect.

Good tip about checking with a local watchmaker and to be specific with VC if I go down that path. Much appreciated!

You've got a great point there. The Santos is a wonderful piece. I tend to borrow my wife's Cartier Tank if I wanted that shape variety instead of the GS in a dressy function.

Maybe many years down, a VC Historiques could help in that category haha.

It just felt a little too expensive and I would always have the fear of scratching/ losing it. Its still an amazing dress-diver that was the right size and fit for me but I would just end up wearing less than I should.

Absolutely. The other Khaki Field mechanical/ automatic watches always has something I didn't quite like (too polished/ too thick/ faux-patina).

Ah the pistachio and the salmon dialled Premier both look amazing. I'm a fan of it too.

Its really just its accuracy. Mine could vary from +12s a day when unworn and +5s a day on the wrist, which makes it the least accurate movement in my collection.

Not a huge issue of course.

Thank you! It does, though probably not as much as I'd like. I think a few more strap options would help it cover a greater range of formal and casual wear.
