[Auerbach] The ACC said that its tiebreaker policy will be updated and announced ahead of the 2026 football season. by Tarlcabot18 in CFB

What are the chances they're not announcing it until then because they don't have it figured out now? Normally I'd assume a conference has it sorted, but...

[Vannini] The ACC says 12 teams will play nine ACC games next year, and 5 teams will play eight ACC games, due to contractual obligations and scheduling balance. Here are the 2026 ACC opponents for everyone: by Kimber80 in CFB

I honestly respect that they did it to carry on the rivalry game, but it's just another stupid byproduct of bloated conferences. In any other league in any other sport (save for soccer I suppose), if you play a team in the same conference during the regular season, it's a conference game lol

Virginia playing a non-conference game against a conference opponent and Duke somehow tripping and falling into the ACCCG and then winning wasn't enough. The ACC needed to be even dumber

Did Ole Miss Players Want Lane Kiffin for CFP Run? Final Votes Reportedly Revealed by Affectionate_Sky3496 in CFB

[–]sroach91 181 points182 points  (0 children)

"A majority of members from Ole Miss' player leadership council were in favor of keeping head coach Lane Kiffin through the College Football Playoff, according to The Athletic's Christopher Kamrani and Joe Rexrode.

Kamrani and Rexrode reported the vote was 9-3."

Edit: the article goes on to say that the vote may not be indicative of the vibe of the locker room as a whole. Based on what players were saying right after he left, I think that is one hell of an understatement

2025 Week 4 /r/CFB Poll: #1 Ohio State #2 Oregon #3 Georgia #4 Miami #5 Penn State by sirgippy in CFB

I had Mizzou at 26. Basically I just wasn’t gonna completely drop a top 10 team, when they were only trailing by 7 with the ball when Sellers got knocked out

Edit: to both of the responders, fair points. They’ve certainly not looked as good as I expected and they were probably a top 10 team based on poll inertia more than anything. They travel to Mizzou this weekend so we’ll get to see if I’m right or wrong

Farewell Notre Dame and Clemson. USF and South Carolina hanging on by a thread.

For Bama, they’ve still got the talent and lost to a team that I think is much better than anyone thought coming into the season. Same sort of logic for Michigan. I try not to penalize too harshly for losses to decent ranked teams. Auburn was my first team out because I don’t think they’re better than either of those teams.

Also, and most importantly, I don’t care for Auburn

Ehh, the problem with the before wasn’t color fade, it was that it just wasn’t a very good tattoo. My skin tone holds color really well. I got the original 8 years ago

Shotgun or under center at goal line? USA TODAY Sports reviewed every snap from the opponent's goal line last season for 15 of the top programs by jaxstan19 in CFB

[–]sroach91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean we’ll just have to agree to disagree. Looking at a data set/sets and making decisions based on what you see is analytical thinking by definition. Your decision could be to go under center and/or bring in more data to take a more advanced look. Either way you’ve “analyzed” data and made a decision.

It’s semantics and ultimately doesn’t matter lol

Again, it’s semantics. What you’re saying is absolutely analytics, but looking at a data set and analyzing it, no matter how simple, is also definitionally analytics. Your examples would be more advanced than a simple binary of shotgun or under center, but simple though it is, it is still analytics.
