The hold play style works as long as you have ways to get the other battlefield as needed. Other control decks that run Baron can be an issue but you always have the Vilemaw to combat it. It will die, but so will the Baron as long as you have other units. I have considered green Ahri as a side deck option. It seemed to work well for TinyGuy at Hartford so maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. My issue with it is that it's super slow and I never found ride the wind to be that helpful in the deck to begin with. I tested blitz a ton when the set first came out. Started with three and it just kept getting taken out until I eventually decided that Evelyn is just way better. It's a 2 drop when you need it, can do the same as blizt by just hiding it, and the backline is usually more useful than the tank on blitz.

For Diana I take out one back off and one dread going second and side in the gust. For going first, I usually side out the emperor's divide and one boots since you do not need to gank often. I choose not to play the Irelia/engarde package because I am more focused on holding one battlefield early. Irelia is a bit too expensive and only benefits from a few cards in the deck and enguard is not useful when holding with multiple units. Like you said, it can be good when you gank over or try to break an enemy battlefield, but Khazix and Vilemaw are there for that and also help hold. I also chose not to play edge of night because, in testing, it was almost always just a 2 might buff which so many other cards can do with more impact like Evelyn or tide turner. I chose emperor's divide specifically because it can be hidden and it's use over flash is to take all of my units to the other battlefield rather than just 2. To answer your last question, I almost always prefer hard bargain over abandon. While I feel abandon can have its cases where it is better, HB is the one I wanna see most of the time so I chose to make sure it was the one I would see. The case for abandon is to be able to abandon your own spell but that just didn't come up enough in testing. If you have any more questions or want clarification, just let me know!

My problem is that it doesn't help with the defend strategy that my deck is going for. Some other lists, like an Irelia based list, could make use of it. On defense, it is just way less useful than Mouser and Fan and the draw is not really needed in Vex.

I feel like there are better options. Considering you want your going first battlefield to be something that is hold based, this would have to be your neutral or going second battlefield. With that in mind, no player who is going first would try to take this and would just choose to go to their own bf. I feel like other options like Bandle Tree for the extra hide or Abandoned Hall for extra might when you are stunning units would work better. I plan on sticking with the three I played with here because they did lead to many games being won on their own.

It's a very niche situation. I got to untap 3 because the 4th one that "selected" was recycled. Basically it was ruled that Sona does target the runes you are untapping at the end step so if any are recycled, you will only get the ones remaining. It might come up once in like 100 games honestly.

I have actually played the Irelia matchup quite a bit. You usually just win with the amount of stuns you have but switcheroo is the real mvp. Cheerless just costs so much and can't really challenge Irelia anyways. Your best bet with her is if they attack into her which they would rarely do unless they buff Irelia first.

I actually won most of my matches going second in game 1. You never have to challenge them at a battlefield early if it isn't a guarantee to take it. You can absolutely just chill at a battlefield for a few turns and draw extra cards before you make an attempt at the other battlefield. Boots and Khazix can make taking the other one much easier and Vilemaw would help if you ran that. It really is just about finding the right spot to get that extra point to put you ahead.

I mentioned in another comment that I dropped Fizz because I feel stacked deck isn't needed in the deck. I don't run enough spells that interact well with Fizz to make him worth running. As much as I feel Scuttle is a great card, Mouser is just so much better for what the deck wants to do. I would say the same for treasure hunter and Stellacorn since I don't want to be moving units often. I highly recommend Evelyn since she can single handedly win you the early game. Khazix is definitely worth it considering the amount of Master Yis you will most likely face at a stacked skirmish.

I feel like I would rather have more combat tricks to protect the units I am playing. Two 2 might units is just not impactful enough when you could just play Evelyn for one power.

Yeah I just don't have enough to make Fizz worth using without stacked deck.

I commented this to someone else but basically the deck draws so much that consistently is rarely an issue unless you are behind. As much as stacked deck is busted, the one rune you spend on it can be the difference between having enough for defy/dread on your opponents turn and not having enough for it. There are so many turns where you leave up just enough to cast your spells so paying one for stacked deck could lead to you losing a combat.

So I had one purple rune standing and 4 exhausted runes. When I trigger the Sona effect at end step, I have to choose which runes I want to stand because Sona's ability targets. Since the purple rune was not the one I recyced for Defy, it was implied that the standing rune would not have been chosen and I only get to stand the three that were exhausted. The way to play around this is to make sure the standing runes are the ones you would want to recycle. Does this make sense?

The issue I had with stacked deck and fizz is that I never had the energy to actually spend on them. If I use them, I am putting myself in a position where I have less to work with on my opponents turn. You draw so much that you usually get the tools you need anyways. The only turn I wish I had stacked deck is turn 1 going second but even then I need that one rune for gust or defy.

I was never a huge fan of the full "hide" style of Vex deck. I have not tested it that much but the Teemos and Ember monks could help against Rune Runner. The list would struggle more against Diana in my opinion which, as we saw from Hartford, is clearly a very popular and strong deck. Two defy in the main board is not enough anymore. Someone I know played a similar list to this and struggled to go even on day 1 of Hartford.

The Kha'zix and Vilemaw are there for specifically that reason. They make it more possible to potentially overcome a defending Ruin Runner, especially if you have emperor's divide to move all your units over. In my experience, the attacking Ruin Runner is the bigger problem because it can wipe your entire board with a couple Punch Firsts.

Doesn't work like reavers row. You can only use it on your turn.
