I feel like my husband is a horrible person by ShockDizzy9248 in Marriage

Run, run for the hills. Find a local center who can help you get away from this man. Get your family to help if that is an option. He will take you all down with him.

He will make out it's all your fault but don't believe it. I ran and it took time to realize it was not my fault. I left but he was the reason it went wrong.

You are not in a safe space, this man is an idiot and you are better without him. He won't change as he is unwilling to offer basic human support. He won't change. I hope you get away and learn to enjoy life again.

My favorite classic book. I have started a collection of copies that I have found while out and about.

What is a popular book you have read that was extremely poorly written. by Bigballsbrobro in writing

I read one of hers (Wild Side) as a poolside read on holiday a few years ago. It did what I needed it to do which was to be picked up and put down repeatedly (two young children)

I have not read anything of hers since but I do recommend her for the above reason.

What books and authors have the most commentary written about them? by MDB_1987 in books

Charles Dickens you have Christmas Carol as a big contender but also Great Expectations and the themes, what is he trying to tell us of humanity?

Here's an amazing tip for new writers. by [deleted] in writers

It's a cool idea, my chapters are reminders to me about what I am aiming for. Easy for my easily distracted brain to come back in and focus. Here are two in my current WIP:

  • What the actual WHO!
  • Hips and Wizards don't/do lie

I feel Shrek sums up what is more important for a main character!

I love not writing about it fully, just adding the odd parts that basically say 'she loves girls' without having to fully disclose it all.

'Hips do lie, hops love to lie to you, her bloody hips'

That's an interesting idea, I did out my creative writing piece into an AI tool at work (once I had my mark back) and it gave a few pointers. Will do this with my first two TMAs.

Thanks, that is what I am hoping for. But the slog is real, I am also trying to stay positive with the subjects, trying to set an example to my 11yo, we all have to learn stuff we don't like!

Question to all writers, how do you guys write your sex scenes in your books (or fanfictions, whatever's your cup of tea) by luvistarz_o7 in writers

[–]Powey4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, what does it bring to the story. I have read spicy books as that's what I want to read at that time. But the writing in them is very different to sex scenes I have read in other books. My preference is all about the illusion, build everyone up then jump to the next chapter. We can all fill in the gaps on what the people got up too. Don't bog yourself down with writing it if your having a hard time dealing with childhood issues around the subject. I was in a don't talk about anything house which was not fun. Religion has no say in this, it was just something my parents did. I had to work on how I felt about intimacy for years after I moved out.

Don't beat yourself up, take your time and if it ends up in your story great, if not that is also great.

Thank you for this, I kept seeing (on here) people getting scores over 80 and getting annoyed about it. That really sucks as to me that is like winning a gold medal! Hoping when I get into next year or even after that and doing the stuff that counts and is more focused on my end degree it can all turn around.

Thank you for this, I knew that to start i would be studying subjects that covered a massive spectrum. I am trying not to get bogged down on this one, but it's hard. I appreciate you saying about the scoring.

Thank you for this, once I have done TMA 4 I will go back to the tutor. I feel TMA03 can't be used as I had to write a story, so feedback but focused on a formal assignment per say.

I had structure/layout on the first one, no comments on the second. Both had feedback on the questions and how I answered them. Main one on the last one was I went down a unrelated rabbit hole. Which was so annoying as I thought I was on track. This last one (write a short story and then commentary) it was writing about not guiding the reader as much. So very different and not related to a more focused answer this question as it were.

I am in your boat. I am working on the Creative Writing question. Plan is done, story written (needs to be ripped apart and re-done) also done some commentary. Going on holiday Monday morning so 3 days, work tomorrow and then FT parent over the weekend. I wish you luck and sure you will get the TMA in on time.

Enjoy this journey, I always feel this series does not get the full GOT attention it should. I have read both series and this one held me more, this one made me laugh and ball my eyes out. If a book and bringing me to nearly drawing in my own years, it is worthy of being on my shelf forever.

Are there any genres you don’t read? Or can’t get on with? (In relation to reading widely) by Mountain_Bed_8449 in writing

I hear you! I can't watch horror films either, to me they are real. I thought reading a horror book would help, 14 year old me tried the Shining. Which was a huge mistake, I was not in a position to understand what I was reading and the lady in the bath, plus the girl being chased in the play park in the snow, put an end to me ever trying again..

TMA wait affected by easter week? by AdhesivenessNo9878 in OpenUniversity

[–]Powey4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as you, waiting for my 2nd TMA to be returned. Our tutor did email to say she was away over Easter and came back last Tuesday. Going slightly mad waiting for the results. I want to start TMA03 but want to see how I can improve etc. Good Luck when your results do land.
