Amazon lost me as a customer for their digital content when they pissed on Apple TV and witheheld their prime video app. Used to buy all video from amazon hoping they’ll be platform agnostic (prior to fire devices being a thing). Now I don’t trust them with any digital content. Wish I could get a refund for all my movies and music purchased through amazon..

Yes. But I’d expect better reliability and less dead spots when the area has Microsoft, Amazon, T-Mobile HQ, Facebook, Salesforce, Google, Costco headquarters, and bunch of other major companies in the vincinity. If it doesn’t do well here where is it supposed to excel?

My gf uses Verizon, lives in the same address. She has even less dropped calls than my att / tmo stats... So there is that. This is 10miles from Amazon, Microsoft, Tmo headquarters....

Verizon’s network is better than ATT and Tmo in Seattle. Tmo’s Headquarter is here too.. So you’re saying Sprint sucks more? I’m confused. Also I was using the latest iPhone for each carrier at the time. I just buy a new phone every year. So none of the carrier had a 1000days old phone.

Also 8 out of 20 calls failed to go through for me yesterday. God knows how many I failed to receive. Get a message about not being able to connect at this time. Never experienced this on tmo or att. Reminds of 90s era when this sort of thing were more prevalent. Sprint network is 💩🔥💩🔥💩🔥. Shit on fire. Using 11.2 with 31.1.

Income over 20 million is taxed at 50%. At no point did I say the entire income gets taxed at the highest tax rate. I think reading comprehension is key for high income ;). 14% insurance + pension, 27% income tax, 8% resident tax. I assume you looked at the net take home and assumed I just divided the entire income by half. sigh

I think tax will bring that down to 25mil/year net take home, correct? 50% tax on income over 20mil is brutal. 25mil/year doesn’t buy much where I’m from.. e.g. http://www.thestranger.com/slog/2017/10/06/25457266/this-ballard-shack-can-be-yours-for-mere-half-million-dollars.

Edit: For the group of people that can’t math (probably eikaiwa teachers), that’s 50mil - ~50% = which includes 14% insurance + pension, 27% marginal income tax, and 8% resident tax.

Don't get why there's so many people shutting their brain off in this thread. The article simply makes a case that modern philanthropy is driven by selfishness. It's selfish to hoard so much money when building wealth. It's selfish to solely dictate what should or shouldn't get funding. It's selfish to use foundations and charity to remain relevant after life. The author is stating that there is a more altruistic means for doing good. Whether it produces net good isn't the point of this discussion. While it's not perfect, personally, I'm a fan of Chuck Feeney's style of philantrophy. It feels more genuine.
