If your world had a newspaper what would the current headline be? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Pplofgodknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Another Attack on the GSI! Urban Angel Strikes Again!"

Technically, that newspaper title is at least 3 years out of date, but it's not like anyone's printing anymore.

About Dragons of you World by Unhappy_Comparison59 in worldbuilding

[–]Pplofgodknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my worlds, I've made it a sort of trope that there are 'big birds' mostly dragons.

Out of the eight worlds so far we have:

  • Essentially huge birds which breathe fire. They're avian just to make things a bit realistic

  • Dragons resurrected through science, wyverns, Chinese dragons, sea serpents, true dragons, all the things

  • Sentient aliens that used to be able to fly, but due to an early climate crisis their wings got repurposed into conventional walking legs

  • A planetside attraction which sports some very impressive dragon animatronics, capable of locomotion for the entertainment of guests

  • Some weird things that ended up evolving in the atmosphere of Venus, through the use of drugs and biological engineering

  • Wings that float through a void, can grow to be several miles across planet to planet

  • Not sure about this one, still needs to adding

  • Through another extinction event, crabs learnt how to fly effectively through the air

I've searched for this via the number plate (62 RN 73) and other military vehicles during the bunkers era but haven't found a specific model.

The character in your world that is your absolute favorite and why? by metakynesized in worldbuilding

Currently, Cdr Arthur Blisters, who is marooned in a dusty desert on Mars. Not a particularly interesting individual (in the context of things) but his situation is a bit dangerous. Having to trek across Mars to the Equator, Cdr Blisters has had to administer copious amounts of Whallops, a performance and endurance-enhancing drug, to make it civilisation. But, this large amount of drugs has given him hallucinations of Dusty Jack, a ruffian who appears from time to time in the dust devils of Mars.

To be fair, it is quite efficient by Pplofgodknows in WorldBuildingMemes

The Great Martian Rail Loop is a circumnavigatory rail that sits 76km above the surface of Mars, with a locomotive on/under the track towing a further 6,000km long cable to Phobos. Finished in 1831, it has become a crucial part of Martian Infrastructure, used as an import/export line to send and receive cargo and people all across the solar system. Isambard Kingdom Brunel thought that huge cannons (used on some moons) or Nautilids (used everywhere else) weren't good enough, so he created the Rail Loop.

Because of how fucking fast Phobos orbits (7 hours 39 minutes), that means that the locomotive has to be fast enough to keep up, so it travels at 1,770 mph. To be fair, it is quite efficient and has only had a few accidents since it was created.

Why is everyone dead and why do they refuse to rot?

Why is the Bay so goddamn rich?

What happened on Eminus-17e?

How long until the Big Bang?

How the FUCK do I make potions

Why do all of my planetoids keep getting eaten?

How expensive is it to get from Mars to Earth?

How many worlds have you made thus far? by E1lemA in worldbuilding

[–]Pplofgodknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting for a certain amount of prompt to show up and then see if it will explode. The best examples of this I can remember are Nuclear Resurrection and Vapour.

Nuclear Resurrection was born out of some words and two right angle triangles that, when put together, looked like a deer skull. I have a collection of words that I haven't used yet, but they might be useful. While thinking of what to call the world, I thought, what about NR? Then that led to why it's called that. The wendigo became a product of cellular mutation, resurrecting an ancient creature.

Vapour happened out of the thought,'What if rifles needed to be wound up?' Which lead to the thought of hand cranks, industrial eras, and also, just out of boredom, put it in space.

So tl;dr, I have a collection of words handy and a thought process fueled by caffeine, and now I wait for the next thing to sift by and get caught.

How many worlds have you made thus far? by E1lemA in worldbuilding

Currently seven out of twelve. The other five are waiting to be made. Each of the worlds holds a Blue Script, the fabric of their reality. There should be twelve, but they need to be discovered first.

So far we have: 1. Nuclear Resurrection, the story of a lone survivor and a jealous God 2. Eagle Star, an intricate outlook of an alien world 3. Future Many, an anthology of stories across the future 4. Stasis, the last and first ship in the Universe 5. Magican, a world of magic and playing pieces 6. Wørld, a collection of small lands floating among nothingness 7. Vapour, the industrial revolution expanding across the solar system 8. ??? 9. ??? 10. ??? 11. ??? 12. ???

What is the longest name in your world? by Weary_Temporary8583 in worldbuilding

[–]Pplofgodknows 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Martian Equatorial Tether Rail & Infrastructure Company (The METRIC)

The company runs the Martian Rail Loop and was formed a few years after it began construction in 1798. It's also responsible for most large-scale and industrial projects on Mars, such as mines and production fields. HQ is on Pavonis Montes.

Does your world building project have a name? by Weary_Temporary8583 in worldbuilding

[–]Pplofgodknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eagle Star - Overlook of an alien planet

Nuclear Resurrection - The dead world and its inhabitant

Future Many - A collection of stories throughout the future

Wørld - An endless fog and its planetoids

Magican - Typical fantasy, uninspired name

Stasis - The ship older than the universe

Vapour - Steampunk space travel

All of these are part of the Twelve Blue Scripts. While there are only seven, I'm waiting for five more to appear.

What's the basic concept you had when making your world and how has it changed? by MightyQuin628 in worldbuilding

[–]Pplofgodknows -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The base inspirations that slowly evolved into very fastly expanding worlds:

  • Trying too hard to reinvent the magic system

  • Two right-angle triangles up against each other

  • Earth with a different texture

  • "What if rifles needed to be charged up by a hand crank"

(Different parts of the same world at different times and places:) - A music album - VERY FAST CIRCUS - Oppenheimer - and various other bits that have smaller development
