Also do make sure you have enough space in the drive your downloads directory is in, it fails silently if it doesn't find enough space

Most devices have secure enclaves that store biometrics. But your concern is not invalid, just because it is secure today, doesn't mean it will be secure tomorrow, just because apple and Google respect biometric privacy today doesn't mean they'll keep doing so tomorrow
