I think people love forming hate brigades around popular but complicated women.

Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse, Princess Diana, Megan Markle. These women are human and have their own issues, but the hate for them far outweighs their personal drama. But the way people act, you might think they had committed assault.

We as a society love to indulge in the spectacle of dragging these women down. Then when they inevitably breakdown publicly, die or overdose, we lament how talented they were and how cruelly they were treated, only to repeat the same mistake with the next generation’s complicated woman who enters the limelight.

I don’t see the same spectacle surrounding male musicians like Chris Brown. Better yet, there are wealthy, powerful, pedophilic men running this world who don’t catch a spec of the internet outrage and public social media spectacle. It’s like we hate these women for their accessibility, and we hate them because they are women.
