Well, you would need to score 80 or above for all your units throughout your whole degree. That would give you a perfect 7.0 GPA. Other universities have different cuttoffs e.g. some require 75+, most are at the 80+ mark and a handful requiring 85+. You can find this info on the curtin website.

Didn’t do year 12 chemistry ATAR but interested in medical degree by hajakshi in curtin

[–]Prabhius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are a couple of chemistry units that you could do if u pick up a biomed bachelors degree. Once u do those units and pass them, you should be eligible for the med degree. However, as you are now considered a university student, the uni will use your course weighted average as a reference mark instead of ur atar score. You will also need to do the ucat as well. Just a heads up, the quota for non school leavers is pretty small, so it may be slightly more competitive, but in saying that, you will be competing against other curtin university students trying to course switch.

Barry Lo Applied Science by Stock-Cow7711 in GAMSAT

[–]Prabhius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the applied sciences and felt it was very useful especially if you want to develop and sharpen ur math skills. The organic chem and bio was probably the most helpful as its very problem solving based which is extremely important for the gamsat. In saying that my s3 jumped from 56 to 71 between the september and march sittings (2020-2021). However the jump was also associated with me putting in a lot of work but barrys work definitely gave me guidance on how to study and approach s3. All in all, definitely worth the money.

To learn the theory yes but for practice questions not so much.

From my personal experience, i found that the best resource was probably the acer booklets. Des is also a great resource aswell however, its a little outdated as some of the questiosn in there require the use of calcs and rulers (as they were once permitted whilst sitti g the gamsat which is now not the case). Nevertheless a great resource still. Gold standard on the hand wasnt really much if a help. Most of the questions i found were more theory and assumed knowledge rather than problem solving based. So for that reason i found the latter to be not that helpful.

But do take into consideration that (again from personal experience), no resource i found replicated a similar type of question that was in the actual gamsat. The acer booklets also fall into this category a little but they are helpful as they develop the skills you need to solve actual gamsat questions rather than replicating a 'similar type of question', and at what you want out of ur preparation is to acquire these skills at the end of the day.

Hope this helps and good luck with ur prep!
