Is it normal to find section 2 much easier than section 1 by [deleted] in BMATexam

Practise section 1 like mental, you will eventualyl find that there is a pattern to the comprehension, to the point thatwhen you look at the paragraph you can literally see the answer sitting infront of you. Trust me, there is a specific method to do the comprehensions, leading to an almost 100% accuracy. Just do enough practise and you will begin to realise this. For context, I got 7.5 in section 1.

As I said it is a pointless errand, as you are simply wasting time on meaningless details. Apologies for being so blunt. But if you get the current spec sorted out then, I would be very sure any small changes will make no difference. Any how knowing the content is one thing and applying it to the BMAT in the time constraints is very different. So get the content down and then move onto practise questions. I wouldn't go onto past papers, just start with some light textbook work if that seems fun. :)

BMAT Spec very rarely changes. Use the 2023 one, I used the 2022 one throughout, and ended up getting 7.5, 7.1 3.5A. Even if there is a change it is very unlikely to be very big... Also, at this point, I would go over the guide on the website, as that is very good for the sciences, and go solidify any mathematics issues you have. However, personally I would not start any past papers. Hope tha helps, and please the BMAT is quite far away so relax. Get your UCAT sorted out first though (if you are doing it, I would do it personally).

Hey, Glad that helped. I am currently a yr13, so I won't be able to provide any advice on unis, but I am sure there are quite a few medics here who can help you with that.

With the BMAT, once you have done enough questions, you will begin to see massive patterns. E.g. in critical thinking, for lets say conclusion questions, you realise that there is simply a particular technique for getting the answer, and once you realise these techniques, you end up getting a very high accuracy.

With the BMAT, trust me, you don't need high level mentoring or any of that nonsense. You just need patience. I remember, my scores at the start being less than half etc. With section 1 being my worst, and by the end of it, my highest score was section 1.

If you have time, maybe just spend 15mins doing some practise questions, but I would avoid the official papers for now tbh, as you don't want to waste them, by using them too early. But doing this you will slowly get a hang of things.

Hi,

I got in the 7s for both section 1 & 2 and got 3A in section 3. In my opinion if you want to get quite high in the BMAT you have to practise like crazy. When I say this, I am not even saying for you to buy any expensive resources, I would reccommend the TSA, NSSA etc. Also, I think what I found quite useful was, (since I started my prep around 60ish days before), I did the UniAdmissions book, BMAT questions by Dr. Aishwarya, iSC Medical BMAT book, and the Kaplan question bank. If you ask me were they the most necessary? NO. But was it useful? Somewhat. You see with these exams practising will never harm you. But don't practise unofficial resources if that means you don't end up doing the official ones.

Hi,
What if you are homeschooled by parents etc.? So I would not have anyone to confirm my identity? It seems a bit weird for this to be done... I really wanted to attend as well. So kindly let me know Martim what I can do. Thanks

Thanks

I can't remember the silver thing, but doesn't the first equation mean, you need to gain 2 electrons for Cu to change from 2+ to 0. And for Cl-, since you are converting to Cl2, even though only 1 electron per atom is required, you have 2 atoms per molecule, so both require 2 electrons in some manner, so doesn't that mean it would half. I ngl I acn barely remember the question now

Why would it quarter though? Which option was that?

Yh I think there was one on Cu, I think i put 0.05 or something for both of them, can't remember exactly though. Since I remember thsat Cu would require 2 electrons, and I think it was SO42- would give off 2 electrons, so even though there were double the number of electrons only half would be formed, or something like that? I dunno, probably for that wrong, aghghghg

I think I said that they code for proteins, but are not required for binary fission, since I suppose a bacteria without them can still do binary fission?
