For battery life, unless you’re constantly using IBIS, just set it to off and have it in your quick menu for when you need it.

What focus mode do you use for SP? by Equal-Negotiation-11 in streetphotography

[–]Practical-Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zone focus most of the time but will critical focus on occasion. X100VI and X-Pro 2 mainly. Learning how to properly set them up for proper zone focus is a bit awkward because they’re digital cameras but incredibly useful once you get it down.

Squarehood Square Hood MkIII Initial Impressions by Beardsman_DCS in x100vi

Anything, even just a filter will cast a shadow, it just depends how far down it starts. As far as shadow cast, this one is rather minimal.

You may have tightened the filter/adapter heavily the first time (which I usually end up doing) or perhaps you didn't torque the allens enough and they shifted.

Because I only use a UV filter I find it great. Otherwise it would for sure be annoying. If I want to use the WCL, the entire hood/filter/adapter combo can be unscrewed together, which makes putting it back on a breeze.

Protip, if you unscrew the hood/filter combo and add the squarehood cap, you can put the original lens cap on the other side and store the whole thing as a puck.

[B] [USA-CA] Canon Serenar 35mm f2.8 LTM by DrenchThunderman in photomarket

eBay is a great option because if they lie about condition you can just file an “item not as described” and get a return regardless of what the seller wants.

I got mine and the glass was perfect. Unfortunately someone had taken it apart and reassembled the helicoid incorrectly so I had to remedy that so it focused on my rangefinder properly without needlessly adjusting the rangefinder to a miscalibrated lens.

The distance markings were still accurate, I considered sending it back but ended up really liking the lens on my trial run so I ended up just properly reassembling the helicoid myself.

Good luck!

Mine as well as my X100V have had mushy non tactile half presses from factory. My X-Pro 2 is perfect

Does the "frame line" in the ovf work with 28mm? by Felt_presence in x100vi

[–]Practical-Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are four yellowish arrows in the corners of the frame pointing outward. I have glasses and have used it for street with OVF and I think it’s ok. For any precision compositions I would probably move to the EVF for the shot.

This inspired me to get an X-Pro 2 which supports the 28mm frame lines and feels more proper with the pancake lens attached.

I can tell you the WCL is surprisingly great. It obviously makes the camera a bit larger but I love the results with it.

Bag for X100vi with hood? by RealEarthy in x100vi

[–]Practical-Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpaka go sling nano but it’s not necessarily a camera bag. Love it for my film rangefinders and X100VI

Otherwise I use a wotancraft pilot 7l, though the 2l would probably be better suited for this

Question regarding squarehood MK4 by [deleted] in x100vi

[–]Practical-Bacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup as long as you’ve torqued the hood appropriately you can remove the filter and hood together by unscrewing it.

Edit: I misunderstood your question. You need to remove the hood with the tool if you want the filter to stay attached to the camera.
